The house is gorgeous, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The owner's attention to detail and warm hospitality made our stay truly memorable. We're especially grateful for the generous sharing of their farm produce - the vegetables, rice, soy sauce, and BBQ sauces were all incredibly fresh and delicious. I thought we were getting a room when I booked (probably my fault for not realising!), but you actually get a whole period house for yourself! The owner asks you to let him know when you arrive so he can meet you to give you the keys and explain everything. He was really helpful and even explained to us where we could get dinner (it's a very small town!). The house itself was beautiful and warm. Futons were super comfortable. The bathroom is new and there is a wooden shower/bath room. We loved our stay so much!

The property is right in the old nakasendo road so very convenient if you’re keen to do some day hiking between post towns. The accommodations are beautiful and comfortable and the host Tommy is super helpful. The kitchen is well set up if you want to self cater. They also offer cultural craft experiences and food options which sounded great but as we were travelling with children we did not do those.

A recently renovated property, 峠のお宿 巧の実家 Magome Guest House, Along the Nakasendo Trail is situated in Nakatsugawa near Magome Observatory, Magome Wakihonjin Museum and Toson Memorial Museum.

The hosts are very kind people who do their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Since it is a rural area and there are no supermarkets close by the owner was kind enough to drive us to a nearby city to pick up our dinner. The house itself is absolutely beautiful and a great place to stay with small groups. We also received several drinks and snacks for free. For us this was the perfect way to end a day walking the nakasendo trail. I cannot give any higher recommendations!
