The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

I only eat fish and poultry which was accommodated beautifully but Koike-san specialists in wild meats including local boar so for guests who love that, I am sure it would be delicious. (Note - we had one beer each and that was charged separately, cash only). Koike-san picked us up from the Tsumago carpark number 1 after we walked the Nakasendo Trail from Magome to Tsumago and he dropped us off the next day at the Nagiso train station where we caught the express train around 11am back to Nagoya.

We also loved the Onsen experience and found the facility to be very clean and easy to use. Our rooms were very clean and spacious, comfortable and enjoyable. We loved our visit and hope to return!
