Very hospitable and we had very good conversations as well, almost like we were staying with a friend. Would go back here again if I was back in Iquitos. The Apartment was great with a balcony for breakfast looking out over the river. THE apartment was spotlessly clean and very conveniently located close to many restaurants and bars, in a police controlled zone 3 blocks from the plaza des Armas. Mauro, your host, was absolutely perfect; Nothing was too much for him, including arranging and accompanying me on river boat trips...hell, I even had a great pedicure and manicure! Infinite hot water from the shower in a practical bathroom was a great way to end a sticky day. Its quaint and cute, modern but not cold, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Did i mention that the first thing that struck me was how clean it was? Even the fridge selled clean, much better than the 5* Melia hotel I had been in before.

Our host Guillermo was helpful from the get-go. He made sure we understood the fair rate for transportation, made calls for booking a boat to Leticia. Asked a carpenter to stop working - it was loud- when we arrived back to our room. We didn't make this request, he just did it. He allowed us to check out late with a very very small fee. Instructed the moto-taxi driver to help us with our bags at the port. So kind and joyful, always smiling.

I was warmly welcomed by Ben, the host — he was incredibly kind, explained everything clearly, and we had some great conversations. I felt at home and very safe throughout my stay. His dog Gaia was absolutely adorable and added to the homely vibe. The breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit and delicious granola — a perfect start to the day. The maloka itself was super comfortable and well furnished, with a thoughtful and cozy design. A fun little bonus: Snoopy, the frog in the bathroom — he made me smile every time. :) And even monkeys visited me in the morning. Would absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful and warm experience before or after retreats.

I’ve stayed one week in the wonderful Guacamayo Azul integrating my journeys in the jungle, and seriously, I have no words how amazing this place is! The house is luxurious, huge comfortable main bedroom, fully equipped kitchen where I felt I could cook as if I was back home. The pool is another sort of privilege; calm and safe location, comparing to the rest of Iquitos. Julio, the housekeeper, would help me with absolutely everything I needed - driving me to do buy groceries, help around the house, even accompanying me to explore the local area’s gems so I don’t feel uncomfortable as a solo female traveler. A special thanks to him! The house is massive and would fit a company up to 8 people, but also it’s an incredible stay for a solo person, who seeks quietness and solitude, like in my case. I truly appreciate my time in Guacamayo Azul, and it only leaves me to wonder why it’s not yet fully booked. I wish you that!
