Carolina Beach is great in itself with beautiful beaches and fun atmosphere. CB is also centrally located and easy to get to other great attractions and towns, Kure, Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington. We enjoyed 2 state parks Carolina Beach State Park and Fort Fischer. At CB state park we fished and loved exploring Fort Fisher. Tip, Dogs (on leash) are allowed year round at Fort Fisher on the beach.Guest review bytoddUnited States - 10.0

Wrightsville is convenient to folks in the Triangle; it's only a 2 hour drive. This place gets SUPER crowded during the summer months though. Fall was a spectacular time to visit - the weather was perfect & the crowds have subsided. Do yourself a favor & walk beyond the Shell Island Resort. There are tide pools & miles of shoreline to explore. It's a beach walk not to be missed. Great local food options too. We love: Vito's pizza & the Fish House Grill.Guest review byAMsJUnited States - 10.0
Sunrise walks on the beach are a MUST!
Sunrise walks on the beach are a MUST! Seafood at local restaurants was good. Michael’s is a place I’ve returned too. Cute local shops with lots of convenience. A short drive to tourist locations. Highly recommend the sunset river tour!Guest review byLydiaUnited States - 8.0

Carolina Beach offers everything you could want - restaurants vary from upscale to family to boardwalk concessions. There is a farmer's market, a rustic grocery (Veggie Wagon), small and large supermarkets. The beach is clean and was not crowded while we were there. The people were nice and there were activities such as an outdoor concert and boat rides.Guest review byCorinneUnited States - 10.0

Beautiful beaches, lots of places to eat nearby and very low key. If you are looking for a long weekend but the beach, this is your spot! We loved "The Drift" for breakfast and if you want a cool place for after dinner go to Concord Espresso Bar. The Flight of Espresso Martinis and S'mores are great. Make reservations ahead of time for outside. Careful not to burn yourself on the Marshmallows like me!Guest review byAmieUnited States - 10.0

We stayed in Kure Beach in the winter time so it was pretty much a ghost town, which is what we wanted. We had to drive a couple miles daily to Carolina Beach to eat and shop but it was a gorgeous drive. The Civil War history of Fort Fisher is a MUST for any American history buff. The Fort Fisher aquarium was a nice visit as well and worth the few bucks admission. Our favorite meal was in Carolina Beach at The Hang Ten Cafe, new parking in the rear of the place so don't pay to park. We hiked the basin trail, beautiful, but had to stop at the end of the salt water marsh bridge as the water flooded the trail, just needed water proof shoes to see the WW2 bunker and look out. As with any beach town, be ready to pay to park, everywhere.Guest review byRichUnited States - 10.0
This was somewhat of a "down memory lane" trip.
This was somewhat of a "down memory lane" trip. For over 25 years my family went to Carolina Beach for a week during the summer and made many memories. But, life goes on, things happen: some move away, people age, some pass away. It has been around 7 years since our last trip (and it used to be a lot!! of us)! The landscape has changed, in fact, quite a bit has changed and I do miss the "old" Carolina Beach, There are more residential areas, so many of the "old"landmarks have disappeared, no more "free or "reasonable" parking, but it was nice going back and "reliving" old memories with a few family members. Its still a beautiful beach and great place to visit.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
I love Shell Island Resort!
I love Shell Island Resort! We go every year to celebrate my birthday. We always enjoy that each room has an ocean view. We love the easy access to the beach. It is an old resort but in great condition, obviously some things could use an update, but they are not anything that will ruin your trip.Guest review byJordyn
