The location of the hotel is very good, close to many attractions such as Shenandoah NP and Luray Caverns. The hotel grounds are beautiful and very spacious. We really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub in the evening. The breakfast was unfortunately disappointing and as always in the USA in no way comparable to German standards.

    The Mall was great!

The Mall was great! I love how it's closed off to car traffic and you can just stroll in comfort. Many, many shops of many, many different tastes. Great variety. Very active nightlife (well, it IS a college town!). Traffic is very congested, so just be mindful of that. I appreciate the history and options of places to go and things to do. I enjoy the mountain and tree views.

I really liked it, but I would need to visit again to really look around and visit the sites. I only traveled there to go to Buc-Ees. Didn't know that it was game day for the University, so next year, I may make it an entire weekend to visit the sites and get a ticket to the game.

We had a great time enjoying the outdoors and natural beauty of the area. Shopping options such as Walmart were readily available, which allowed us to have meals at our cottage pretty easily. The caverns are a spectacular must see attraction. The national park is probably underrated for it beautiful views and trails. We were only there a few days, but expect to return to see more. We did a rafting excursion and would like to come back to kayak next time. The one downside is there seemed to be limited dining options.

Front Royal is the starting point on the north end of the skyline drive. The town really is cute and time could be spent there, which we did not. We drove into town and had dinner at the main st mill-really cute place with murals on the wall inside and great sandwiches at good, fair prices.

We only spent the weekend, but it was an amazing time.

We only spent the weekend, but it was an amazing time. Primary purpose of the trip was a visit to Monticello, for which I've been waiting many years. But while here, we ate out a lot and did a fair amount of driving around. The restaurants we visited (Bad Luck Ramen, The Virginian, Public Fish & Oyster) were fantastic! The UVA campus is beautiful. The Saunders-Monticello Trail up the mountain is a great walk / hike. Carter Mountain Orchard was also really nice. And of course Monticello visit was AMAZING. From the time we spent here and what we saw driving around, the town seems alive and thriving, culturally active, the historical aspect is deep. I think Charlottesville will warrant another visit!
