I really loved this place !! The owners were so nice and friendly. It is a small place decorated with taste, even the rooms, lots of local things around remind you where you are. The breakfast is incredible as they change every day so it doesn’t get boring ;-). The tables in wood are like local boats. What a great idea !!! The guest are really international and it’s easy to get in touch with other people. They have a dog and a cat but very brave and discreet. It’s very close to the beach, restaurants etc The staff is also top and they always smile. There’s no need to look for another place if you come to Nungwi: Babalao is where you should stay.

Fantastic accommodation right on the beach! Staff was absolutely amazing, super-kind and willing to assist at any moment and with any request! Bungalows are beautifully maintained, our beds were made every day with beautiful decoration, just like the photos on Booking show. Swimming pool kept clean and nice. Food in the restaurant was delicious and perfectly safe (fresh fruit and veg washed in filtered water). After receiving the confirmation that the bar also uses just bottled water, I think we tried all of the cocktails and genuinely enjoyed them! Our particular "thank you" goes to Precious, who helped us organize all the different tours around the island: snorkeling, scuba diving, Stone Town visit, a day at Kendwa and Nungwi beaches, turtle cave,.... always managing to find the unbeatable, best price! The sand on the beach right in front of the resort is probably the finest and whitest of all on Zanzibar! What we liked in particular is that the beach was also not too frequently visited by beach vendors, and they were definitely not allowed to enter the area around the swimming pool in resort. This really helped the tranquility under the sun!

During our recent stay at TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar, we experienced an unforgettable holiday that exceeded all expectations. Location and Surroundings Nestled on the pristine sands of Kiwengwa Beach, the hotel’s stunning setting, lush gardens, and elegant architecture create a true paradise. Accommodation Our Junior Suite with a sea view was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The comfortable beds, complete with mosquito nets, ensured a restful stay. Impressively, we didn’t see a single mosquito the entire time. Dining Experience With five restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, every meal was a delight. The food was fresh, flavorful, and catered to all tastes. Exceptional Staff The service at the hotel was outstanding, with a team that went above and beyond to make our stay special. We want to highlight: Suphian from the Green and Grill Restaurant (dinner shift) – a world-class professional. His precision, warmth, and attention to detail would make him a top performer even in the finest dining establishments. The level of service he provides rivals that of the best restaurants globally—truly outstanding. Horace Kolimba, Asubuhi, and Brandina from the Beach Bar – always friendly, making every chat a pleasure. Said from the Pool Bar – top guy, very friendly, always smiling, great service. Celestine and Careen from Reception – professional and warm Highly Recommended Guide For exploring Zanzibar, we highly recommend Aladin Sule Zanzibar. Honest, knowledgeable, and passionate, he made every tour fascinating. We took five trips with him, each one an incredible experience. -Best beach experience in Zanzibar: Swim during high tide or during low tide you can explore wildlife in coral reef or walk further out to sand dunes where you can relax in crystal clear water or swim. -Hotel decor & ambiance: Most unique hotel I’ve stayed in my life. We really enjoyed all the unique lounge areas and the outdoor bathroom. The design is such a great value for the hotel price. This place was made for photos. -Location: Stay here if you plan to eat dinner at The Rock. The hotel is walking distance along the beach. The beach is also lined with other restaurants and activities. If that’s not enough, the hotel has a ton of reasonably priced pre-arranged activities. We were able to tell the beach hawkers no firmly because we already booked through the hotel. -Very Communal: The owner, Nicole, is very kind and welcoming. She set us up with activities and gave us the tour of our room. She’s present on site if you ever need anything. People often hang out in the restaurant in the evening which gives it a community, home-y feel.

We loved our 10 nights stay. It is a really cosy hotel, not too big, so for our honeymoon stay was just perfect! We loved the food, the beach, all inclusive drinks, our cute bungalow with terrace facing the ocean! The whole place needs updating, sure - some maintenance, paiting or upgrating - but the first impression of the hotel and our room, was amazing. Hotel has great vibe, with beautiful flowers and plants all around. Open concept was just great! We liked the gym, it is very small but most of the times we were alone so we really, really enjoyed it! The whole team working in the hotel is amazing! They work really hard to provide excellent service for all the guests.

Very friendly and helpful staff - reception, security, beach area staff, housekeeping and restaurant staff. Great private beach area with comfortable sunbeds and no interference from the guys selling tours thanks to the security guard keeping a close watch on things. Really tasty food with good price/value. Rooftop bar was the perfect place to watch the sunset each evening.

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices. Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices. What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning. Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

A peaceful and welcoming town with a strong sense of community and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a peaceful part of town, where there were noticeably fewer street vendors selling beads and souvenirs compared to other areas. This made the atmosphere even more calm and relaxing, allowing us to fully enjoy the local charm without feeling overwhelmed.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Lovely beach on the Indian Ocean.

Lovely beach on the Indian Ocean. Lots of restaurants, bars and snack shops from higher end and usual fare to local pubs and dining. Beautiful views, jet ski, kite surfing and dhow or outrigger hires for snorkeling. beautiful clear water and you can walk the sandbars at low tide or swim there at high tide. An hour or so from Stone Town hustle and bustle, but still close enough for a day excursion.

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from...

Michamvi is located approximately 65 kilometers from Forodhani, and the journey can feel quite long—particularly if you have just arrived in Zanzibar. The drive is somewhat uncomfortable due to the condition of the road, which consists largely of worn, uneven tarmac. Additionally, the area lacks local street food options, leaving nearby hotels—most of which are high-end and expensive—as the primary dining choices. As someone who genuinely enjoys the rich and flavorful cuisine of Stone Town, I found the food in the area to be rather bland and not reflective of its price point.
