It seems a lot of people see Singapore as a transit stopover...
It seems a lot of people see Singapore as a transit stopover but it is so much more than that. There are so many attractions for the tourists and it is so easy, and cheap, to get around on the world leading MRT system. We can't speak highly enough about the MRT. No tickets required, just a credit card. No timetable required as a train arrives every 6 mines (or less). No maps required as the stations and trains have easy to understand directions and no rideshare or taxi required as the MRT will get you within walking distance of almost everywhere in Singapore, even the airport. The only exception we found was the Zoo, which required a cheap and convenient shuttle bus from the MRT station to the Zoo (and back). It does help to put a link to MRT journey Planner on your phone as it's the best way to work out the fastest way to get to your destination and it will show the station stops and interchanges you may need to make. We filled our 9 night stay with so many activities, including Sentosa Island, the Mandai Wildlife Reserve (with 4 fantastic wildlife parks), Gardens by the Bay, the Botanical Gardens (including the Orchid Garden), East Coast Park (10kms of beach and park), Singapore River (including Clarke and Boat Quays and the Merlion), Fort Canning, Bugis, Kampong Glam, China Town, endless shopping and many wonder food centres. Try to have some Food/Beverage at Restoran BANAFEE Seri Alam near TODAY's mall. One can buy fresh fruits and other necessary shopping at TODAY's mall nearby. Pharmacy shops are available nearby in walking distance, which is very good.
