The public transport is excellent.
The public transport is excellent. Very easy to get the city from the airport and to get around everywhere. Te Papa is great but there is also a wonderful Wellington Museum on the waterfront which is well worth a visit and not so well advertised. This tells you the history of the early Māori and their links to their ancestral environment. If you visit Antrim House (it’s very cool) and pick up a few brochures there, there are also some wonderful cultural and historic places to visit which give you a good picture of Wellington’s architecture since European settlement. Of particular note is the amazing clock at the top of the old BNZ building on Lambton Quay. We loved North Island, particularly Rotorua with many options around our main interests: Maori Culture and Nature. There is So much to see. Visit and Dinner at Mitai Village, also our Visit to Te Puia Thermal Park, the Maori Arts & Crafts Institute and Kiwi Conservation Centre were Fantastic! Also the Buried Village (june 1886) and a number of Beautiful Waterfalls! Also worth paying a visit to Patrick's Pies, absolutelly great pies that received many prizes!
