- From US$74.41 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.8Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,469 reviewsThe location was excellent, really near public transport links. City centre close with lots of bars and restaurants a small stroll away. The room was well stocked with tea, coffee and a fresh bottle of milk left in the fridge. Toaster and microwave provided. Details to collect our keys were sent with easy clear instructions. Nice size room and bathroom.Guest review byMandyUnited Kingdom
- From US$356.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 131 reviewsA beautiful boutique hotel set amongst the farmlands. The service, food, spa and room was incredible. We couldn't have asked for more from our little weekend away. It was close enough to town to ride in and enjoy the quaint shops and cafes and you can hire bicycles to do just that.Guest review byAmySouth Africa
- From US$106.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,426 reviewsWe were lucky that they have given us the room with partial view. We all loved it. Booked for the king studio only with the city view I think(did not have the choice as other options were quite expensive) And not just the view, we also had the spa. My daughter loved it.Guest review byYana BaNew Zealand

The room size was great and the location was excellent as it was close to many of the restaurants along the wharf. The fact that it was a 7-8 min drive from central Napier really did not matter at all.Guest review byNeilUnited Kingdom

It has many Art Deco buildings which makes it an interesting city. The area around the sound shell is beautifully landscaped. There seems to be a good range of food outlets and I had one of the best pork crackling meals at The Marine Bistro that I have ever eaten.Guest review byVickyNew Zealand - 10.0
The shopping area was convenient.
The shopping area was convenient. I liked how the Warehouse and other shops were close by and a nice cafe/bakery was amongst it. Found it easy to get from one area to another with our GPS. Trying out Popeyes fast food was a interesting experience. Too spicy but then two of us were old codgers!!Guest review byCarolynNew Zealand - 10.0
So much to do here and everything is close.
So much to do here and everything is close. Vineyards, restaurants/cafes are very good, Te Mata Peak is great for a short/long walk, The Market on Sunday was lovely and the shops are individually owned so lots of interesting things. Wardini Books is worth a visit. Andreas Hair and beauty was welcoming at short notice. Loved Havelock NorthGuest review byCatherineNew Zealand - 10.0
Wairoa is totally underrated.
Wairoa is totally underrated. I know it's got a reputation for gangs and gang fights over the years but it took me by surprise for the following reasons: 1. The river walk was one of the most serene and best river walks I've had around NZ towns... and I've practically been everywhere in NZ. 2. The Norfolk Pine along the river were some of the most mature and magnificent trees I've seen. They definitely rival the ones along the Napier-Hastings motorway. 3. The road to the beach was literally 5 mins away from our accommodation. You get a fantastic view of the South Pacific Ocean and over the mountain range westward, you can watch some fantastic sunsets. I spent my 2022 New Years here and I saw off 2021 with a fantastic orange/yellow sunset (the kind you see in Bali).Guest review byHtutNew Zealand - 8.0

Waipukurau is one one of those people tend to just drive through - but it has a great network of trails along the river, nice coffee and is close to Waipawa. Its a relaxing place with nice pastoral scenery.Guest review bySean AudainNew Zealand - 10.0

This is a great place for a quiet, relaxing stay, with access to nearby beach walks and walking trails in the Ta Mata National Park. Don't come if you want night life or nearby restaurants. You're in the countryside, and the nearest town (Napier) is a bout 15km away..Guest review byAndrewAustralia - 10.0

Te Awanga was our choice of location as we were interested in Cape Kidnappers, the wineries and accomodation with a bay view. We stayed at the Winemakers Cottage and it was exceptional. Te Awanga has a great cafe Huegge right on the beach. Gannet Tours operate from here (but there are no gannets in winter!) Trips up to the Cape Kidnappers Golf Course are not eay to arrange and I think the price if you get there may be exclusive. You can walk around the base of Kidnappers Bay to the gannet colony. It is a bit risky as the cliffs have rockfalls and the beach is made of black rocks which make walking a bit tricky. Great access to Hastings, Napier, Havelock north and Ocean Beach. Craggy Range Winery, Elephant Hill, and Clearview are all easily accessible.Guest review byGreyroseAustralia - 10.0

There is plenty to do, we are active relaxers and had a wonderful time cycling and walking. The Gannet safari tour exceeded expectations. There are plenty of good restaurants and at least a couple of great ones, Mister D restaurant is our all-time favorite. The public pools and spa are a real asset to the community; definitely worth a visit. Napier has to be one of NZ's best-kept secrets.Guest review bySusanNew Zealand - 6.0
Hastings is part of the Hawkes Bay region.
Hastings is part of the Hawkes Bay region. Napier is a much nicer place. Hastings town was empty with no shops or places to eat at night. Would stay in Napier & explore everything from there rather than basing your stay in Hastings. Surrounding areas offered things to do but you need your own transport. Excellent wineries but again operate during the day.Guest review byTerryNew Zealand
