Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money.
Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money. Taxi service is good, but bus schedules are sketchy. If you come to go fishing, you can take a taxi to the Zihuantanejo harbor for 150 pesos. I recommend finding a good taxi driver, as we did, and get his card and use the same driver for all your travel needs. Ixtapa has limited shopping for groceries, but Zihuantanejo has a Sams club and larger grocery stores. The Delfiniti Swim with Dolphins venue has gone downhill and is very expensive. There is limited beach access, but the large hotels now claim their beaches as private. Dining is costly so come prepared! Be prepared for hot temps with lots of humidity! The tourist trap tours offered are also costly.Guest review byGaylen ArthurUnited States - 10.0

Lots of things to see and do, great restaurants and food and prices to match. Very helpful people who live there, kind and considerate who really try to make your stay more pleasant. We are going back next year for a longer stay.Guest review byDonna - 8.0

If you're renting a cabin with family or friends, this would be wonderful as a relaxing and beautiful stay. If you're not doing that, the place is a bit of a tourist trap. There are things to do, but they will cost $$$.Guest review byChristopherUnited States - 10.0

It is such a charming town with red and white walls, tile roofs, and cobblestone streets. It is walkable and there are many things to see and do. The food is delicious too. I highly recommend visiting!Guest review bySamiaUnited States - 8.0
Ajijic was very nice, especially as it was the off-season.
Ajijic was very nice, especially as it was the off-season. I enjoyed the town. I would have liked it better if there were not so many expats. I wanted more of an opportunity for speaking Spanish, but I kept running into people who could not speak Spanish or did not want to speak Spanish. For Spanish, I had to take a bus to go to Chapala. I was later told that 70% of the population of Ajijic is expats and that Chapala was about 5% expats. (This was told to me by an expat couple and verified by others, including people who were non-English-speaking.) Ajijic was still very nice and I enjoyed walking around it. I just didn't get to speak as much Spanish as I would have liked.Guest review byRickUnited States - 10.0
I have been to Colima many times, first trip 1990.
I have been to Colima many times, first trip 1990. Not really promoted as a tourist destination, but many things to do. Beaches not far away, mountains close by. A beautiful volcano overlooks the city. The dollar goes a long way in this area. Not much English is spoken, but enough to get by. Restaurants are plentiful and getting around by taxi is very easy.Guest review bywilliamUnited States - 4.0

The main square in the town and the few streets surrounding the hotel were really nice. However, many facilities are not open except on the weekends. Then again, I would have no desire to go there on the weekend because of the crowds. The trip to Las Piedrotas was great and very close ( 5 minute drive) from town.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 10.0
Such a great little town.
Such a great little town. We came in the off season so it wasn't too crowded. There are many bars and restaurants that have their own style and personality. The sunsets were amazing and the people were very friendly. It's easy to get around town but I would recommend renting a golf cart or car because of the humidity. We never had a bad meal there, even the pizza from the street vendor was tasty.Guest review byChristopherUnited States - 10.0
The room is very nice! Breakfast is the best.
The room is very nice! Breakfast is the best. But Restaurant food could offer more choices then it does. Maybe real steaks cooked to your desire? And Roasted chicken. Or fish? Beautiful setting and location. I believe the Restaurant could be a real upscale place. If given the right tools of perfection!!!Guest review byLindaUnited States - 10.0
This was my first time visiting Ixtapa.
This was my first time visiting Ixtapa. It is a beautiful tropical area. I felt very safe. Easy to get around in. Beautiful walkways, and bicycle paths. Driving around is very easy. I will be making this a permanent destination. There's plenty of fun and interesting things to do for the whole family!Guest review byKarenUnited States
