While I can comment only on the room we stayed in, room 503 which was a Japanese style room, I would rate it as a 10/10. The staff are all lovely. Every single staff member that crossed our path was very helpful, polite and friendly. Our room had a gorgeous 180 degree view over Kotohira. The sound of the river below was so nice. If I was to stay again, I would stay in a western style room simply because I found it difficult to get off the floor. I peeked in room 302 on my way out and think any western room on that side of that building with that view, could not be beat. We did not have our dinners at the hotel but did have breakfast every day for the four days we were there. The amount of food is enough to set you for the entire day. I enjoyed a vegetarian western breakfast while my husband enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. The food is delicious, the presentation is beautifully done and the service is exceptional. Such a hard working team. The staff were happy to take us to the train station whoever we wanted to go on a day trip. A day trip to the Iya valley and one to the Ritsurin gardens should not be missed.Guest review bySusanCanada

Free parking, very close and walking distance to the Kotohiragu area. The room itself was very spacious for 2 people. The onsen was also very nice, there were multiple hot tubs (including jet/jacuzzi ones) indoors and outdoors, and they switch the onsen between male and female overnight. The island has some of the best art museums I've visited, not in the amount of art pieces, but the flow, quality and architectural side of them. Transport wasn't ideal at this time of year but if you timed the buses right you could see a lot of Shodoshima island in a few days. It was great being surrounded by olive and orange groves. It had a very Mediterranean feel to it. From my resort I only had to cross the road to Olive Park and it's many attractions. A lovely coffee shop, aptly called Dilly Dally, was only a few doors away. I visited the site of the movie "24 eyes", Angel Road, Olive Park and strolled along various beaches. A lovely place to wind down after Tokyo. Takamatsu is a regional town on Shikoku Island in Japan. It is quite relaxed and has everything that you may look for in big cities. Shikoku Island is one of the main 4 Islands of Japan. It is good to reach by train, bus and even by airplane. Nice visit to the soya sauce production. We also visited the olive tree park. In all places we visited people were very welcoming. We could have visited other areas of the island. People are kind and helpful (even when they hardly speak English). Transportation is reliable and connection well planned between buses and boats.
