- From $99.49 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 314 reviewsThe hotel is wonderfully convenient, just one block from the b i e i train station. The rooms are wonderfully large and spacious, and come with all the amenities like refrigerator, hot water heater, very good AC, and bilingual Japanese NHK news. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is very good, with scrambled eggs, chicken, potato croquettes, salmon, good coffee and orange juice, Etc and the excellent b i e i travel information office is right around the corner, and can help with day trips. The room had the best lighting of any hotel I have had this trip.Guest review byDanielUnited States
- From $64.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,535 reviewsThe quality of the room, in general, was awesome. The staff was, as expected while in Japan, top notch. Though it was great for both sexes, it's more catered to women. It was akin to a spa experience. It seemed as if the customer-base also understood that, as most guests that I saw were female.Guest review byEvanUnited States

City is very pleasant and liveable with wide streets in a grid pattern that make navigating easy. Main attraction was as the main centre for Hokkaido, with day trips to outlying areas (Otaru, Cape Kamui, Yoichi etc) as the real draw card. Sapporo Beer Museum was also excellent.Guest review byMacDonald - 8.0

Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.Guest review byArielSlovenia - 10.0

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.Guest review byNicholasAustralia - 10.0

We did glass blowing at a great place called Il Ponte - made a glass each to take home! Also spent an afternoon Kayaking nearby at Shioya beach with Max at Sunnyside Up -well worth doing with amazing scenery and even a swim at a beach! Also found a great little place for dinner that locals go to called Summi's Grill in a little back alley near the Sun arcade. Met a couple of locals who go there every day!Guest review byPhilipAustralia - 10.0

We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 6.0

Very touristy and busy. Enjoyed the Mt. Usu Ropeway and the walk at the summit station, along the Southern Rim Trail to the lookout over Ginnuma Crater. Panoramic views from the Silo Observation Deck.Guest review byMargaretCanada - 8.0
Kushiro is a compact city.
Kushiro is a compact city. When I was there in February 2024 the city was fairly quiet. Kushiro is a good place to stay if you are interested in seeing the Red crowned-cranes (Tancho). The Akan International Crane Center is just over an hour away by public bus. It's also possible to travel to the wetlands and the many lakes in the area. The Kushiro City Museum is very good with displays of the natural history, geology and Tancho. There are also wonderful sunsets that can be seen in various parts of the city.Guest review byNeilThailand - 10.0

For a two day trip to Noboribetsu, we enjoyed the hiking, scenery, and shopping near our hotel. The natural hot springs there are also quite unique - semi translucent in appearance. We really enjoyed soaking in it.Guest review byDennisUnited States - 8.0

Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.Guest review byChangAustralia
