- From $55.22 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 761 reviewsWe loved our stay here. It was a a great area close to the trolley, Matsuyama Castle, a peaceful gorgeous park, restaurants, grocery stores, Dogo Onsen and a dope dance studio. They even offered us Jammies to wear, many amenities and changed our towels daily for no extra charge. The room was more spacious then many in Japan. The WiFi was strong. They had bikes to rent. The window had a pleasant city view and wasn’t blurred out like many Japanese hotel/hostel/home windows. The cleaning staff were friendlier than at many other places and spoke with us. It was a super clean space with a lovely long desk for working. Water pressure was fantastic. Warm and cozy place.Guest review byRae BuUnited States
- From $70.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,348 reviewsI spent one night here. I had my own little room and everything was perfectly clean. At night it was very quiet and comfortable. When I first entered the room there was an issue with the toilet but after 5 minutes someone came and fixed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke English. The hotel is a couple of minutes away from the train station on foot. It's a bit more expensive than what I usually pay while backpacking but considering it's near the station in a big city, I think it was very good. There is a conbini attached to it and there is also a huge supermarket 5 mins away. I highly recommend it. Great value for money!Guest review byMartaEstonia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 830 reviewsTallest building in the area and the most pretty - I was at the 15th floor and I had amazing view of the bridge and the sea and the castle. My room was very very luxurious and spacious. The breakfast was nice, not many dessert options. The breakfast is right by a beautiful garden with big waterfalls and it was amazing to eat there, I took many pictures. The lobby is also amazing and huge. Everything is very boutique. Hope they won’t raise their prices, it’s very worth it right now (about ¥14K). I saw there’s a train station close by but I got there by car, the parking costs money but I would’ve parked at a different location if I knew.Guest review byOhadIsrael

The hostel has a coin laundry so you can wash and dry there. The hostel has also many information pamphlet about Shimanami cycling road or guide books about cycling areas on the shelf in the common space.Guest review byHanaePoland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 386 reviewsThe night view from our room and from the outdoor bath was spectacular. We forgot two items at the hotel, and the staff looked diligently to find them and mail them to us. There were no non-smoking rooms to reserve, but the staff had made sure that there was no odor in our room. The shuttle service was exceptional.Guest review byPaigeJapan

Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer.
Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer. From the stunning views from Matsuyama castle, to the history of Dogo Onsen. It has many hidden gems in the form of cafes, traditional craft and cultural experiences and is a good jumping off point to see the rest of Ehime/Shikoku.Guest review byKai1582Japan - 10.0

Would recommend adventuring through these inland sea islands. There is quite a bit to see. People are kind, landscape is beautiful, super safe, public transportation adequate. There is now a direct bus from Omishima bus stop to Hiroshima making it super easy.Guest review byKAUnited States - 6.0

Niihama was a perfect stop in our bicycle trip (perfect distances between two spots). Otherwise there is not much to do in the city unfortunately. But we can recommend a good place to eat udon, it is called うどん茶屋志 Japon, 〒792-0865 Ehime, Niihama, Sakuragicho, 3−36 道 Really huge bowl of udon, tasty and cheap !Guest review byPerrineFrance - 10.0
The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing.
The island has a very slow pace. Great for relaxing. We came here on a motorcycle/fishing trip. The motorcycle part was great. The fishing part…. was difficult😩 Lots of chinu (black bream) around and big, but they were not interested in the lures we used. Saw some locals catching them with bait, so we will have to change our strategy next time! Also, squid fishing is quite popular. One more thing, many restaurants only open for lunch or close/take last orders early so be prepared for this or you’ll be eating convenience store foods!🤣Guest review byAustinTaiwan - 10.0
The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed.
The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed. It was Ryokan Kominka Mitsuhama, and it was detailed by a true artist. You have 2 floors of space with the bedroom upstairs and a large living room downstairs. The living room is surrounded by 2 different mature and well lit Japanese gardens. One had many Koi swimming in the ponds. So lovely! It was in a quiet, low key neighborhood but just 2 blocks to the river and near a little working fisherman's bay. The boats were squid fisherman with lights strung on them because they fish at night with the lights to attract the squid. There were plenty of small local restaurants and bakeries. It was a respite from tourist crowds and off the beaten path.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0
Great base for riding the Shimanami Kaido.
Great base for riding the Shimanami Kaido. We rode for 2 days returning by ferry, with our bikes, from Habu. The town and port are easy to get around and the tourist information at the train station was excellent. We stayed near the station where there was a great choice of restaurants. We hired a car in Imabari and did a quick 6 day tour around Shikoku. Great size city for a base in Shikoku.Guest review byVickiAustralia - 10.0

We were involved in the 7 bridges bike ride over 2 days so we only stayed in Imabari for one night. If I was to do this trip again I would do it over 3 or 4 days in order to stay a little longer and explore.Guest review byPiaJapan - 8.0

After Tokyo which is overrun with tourists Matsuyama has a far more traditional feeling. You can visit a variety of interesting sites in an unrushed and uncrowded manner. It is far more representative of Japan as it is lived in away from the crowds.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 8.0
When we booked we thought we were staying inImabari city.
When we booked we thought we were staying inImabari city. Because the address of Wakka is Imabari rather than Omishima island. So our only view of Imabari city was from train station and bus. Foreigners Need to know that you have to catch a bus to get from Imabari city to Wakka.Guest review byBrian & KarenNew Zealand
