A perfect home base for a visit to Irelands west coast.
A perfect home base for a visit to Irelands west coast. The city itself has lots to offer but it makes it a central location to many of Irelands tourist attractions. I recommend it for a 3-4 night stay if doing day trips around the area, or 2 nights if strictly staying in Galway. In Salthill we loved Ré coffee and the strolling the boardwalk. In the city, the fries at Prátai are an absolute must, visit the Cheesemongers Wine bar for amazing Irish cheese boards and great wine selection. Many beautiful pubs to choose from, my favorites were Tigh Neachtain’s and Tig Choili, and restaurant options are abundant.Guest review byMonica - 10
Cork is a very vibrant, walkable, trendy city.
Cork is a very vibrant, walkable, trendy city. I highly recommend doing the get on - get off bus and getting off at any stops that interest you. There's so much more to the city than just the centre hub. The English market is great for all your fresh food needs! Meat, veg, fish, baking ... Especially if you've got a kitchen where you're staying! It was exciting to explore through there. The old Cork Gaol was very interesting. We spent hours there exploring rooms and I highly recommend the audio tour. You're not going to get the same experience from the paper tour. Our time in Cork just wasn't long enough! We had breakfast at Spitjacks ... I highly recommend! Visit the Blarney castle! Go early & try to be 1 of the first up to the stone if you're doing that ... The crowds come thick & fast & if you're back at the beginning of the castle, it can be up to an hour wait & longer. Explore the gardens ... They're full of really cool stuff! There's not really a lot to do in Blarney itself but a stroll in the garden is great!Guest review byTePaniaAustralia - 8.0
A lovely area, friendly people.
A lovely area, friendly people. There is a lot to keep you entertained and plenty of sights and things to do. The pubs are also brilliant, some having great music for you to dance to. I will definitely be back. The horse and trap are a must do, great way to see Killarney. The town is within walking range from Earls Court House. It is an easy town to get around and a good array of places close by to sight see. You must walk the park, so relaxing and you feel as if you are out in the country and not a town. Wonderful place.Guest review byPaisis - 8.0

Able to easily get around the city walking to sites e.g. Hunt Museum. King John’s Castle. Limerick was. Good base for excursions further west and providing excellent accommodation which may not have been available elsewhere.Guest review byThomasinaAustralia - 10
Music scene is awesome!
Music scene is awesome! Also enjoyed driving the Dingle Peninsula. Dingle is a very nice town to wander around and see the sights. Courtney's Bakery and the Dingle Tavern were two of our favorites.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Local pubs were fun and the people very friendly. Started at The Railway, visited the Sligo Abbey then ate and had a couple pints of Guinness at Hargodan’s after went to O’Neill’s Bar to finish off the evening.Guest review byAnonymous - 10

we almost didnt think of traveling this far north, but Westport is well worth the drive. A special treat was the Westport House and grounds, which were in walking distance of the property. I loved going into these stores: Forget Me Not and Distinctly Donegal. I enjoyed my conversation with the owner/creator of the beautiful silver jewelry at Distinctly Donegal. I will check out her website! I loved going to Slieve League and would’ve liked to spend more time hiking there.Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10
Gus O'Connor's in Doolin is a top notch restaurant.
Gus O'Connor's in Doolin is a top notch restaurant. The Aran Islands are a hop, skip and a jump via the Doolin Ferry and e-bike and standard bike rentals are fast and easy once you land on the islands. There are grocery stores in nearby Ennistymon 15-20 minutes by car. Fanore---20 minutes to the north---is home of the Caher Valley Loop Walking Trail. One loop is about 9 miles...the other about 10-11 miles. Spectacular views...worth the steep climb! Kilkee---about an hour to the south---has a wonderful Cliff Walk that offers views as good as the Cliffs of Moher.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 10
