FAQs about hotels in Bali
An Island Dream
The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.
The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.
On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.
Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.
Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

- From $265.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,174 reviewsGet ready for some serious honest review. I usually never really give reviews in detail but this resort deserves my time to write this. Our stay at Patal Kikian Villas was truly beyond expectations from the moment we arrived until the day we checked out. We were warmly welcomed & even received a complimentary upgrade to a private pool villa, which was absolutely amazing. The villa offers a direct, unobstructed view of Bali’s tallest and most majestic volcano, Mount Agung. A truly breathtaking sight that left us speechless! The atmosphere throughout the property is incredibly serene. We found ourselves perfectly content simply relaxing in our villa, whether lounging in the living room or enjoying the private pool, both of which face the stunning Mount Agung. It was so peaceful & beautiful that we barely felt the need to leave. We wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately the resort was fully booked :( The staff were genuinely friendly & attentive, adding a personal & welcoming touch to our experience. The food from on-site restaurant was consistently delicious, with a great variety to choose from, so much so that we happily dined there for every meal. Every time we went for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to return & find our room had been tidied up again, which was such a thoughtful detail! We also appreciated the complimentary local appetizers served at the start of each meal, a lovely way to experience more of Balinese flavors. Breakfast was equally satisfying, with generous selections to start the day right. We were also treated to a complimentary 15-minute foot massage during our stay, which added a relaxing touch. The bed was beautifully decorated in a way we had never seen before! And the pillows are so comfy! Overall, this was a superb and memorable experience :) We will definitely return to Patal Kikian Villas every time we visit Bali. Highly recommended!Guest review byMarliana ErlyQatar
- From $553.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 450 reviewsWe stayed in Guadua house. It was amazing! The curtains did a good job of keeping out most of the bugs. There's an AC unit right above the bed, but we didn't need it. The pools were clean and refreshing! They have a restaurant by the river, as well as a sunset bar overlooking the rice fields. There are lots of stairs, and narrow pathways, so if you have mobility issues, this is not the hotel for you. But if you want a really unique experience, I would highly recommend! The food was great, the staff were friendly, everything was fresh and clean. 10/10 I would stay againGuest review byClaireMexico

Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road...
Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road becomes a practiced art. Pavements are a real problem as they are narrow and badly broken up, tripping hazards are commonplace. The roadside kerbing is much higher than normal so for anyone struggling with any type of walking disability, beware. Basically there are just too many tourists and day trippers which makes for even more traffic and crowding. Feels like I should have come here 25 years ago and would have found a completely different vibe. Taxi journey to and from the airport took two and a half hours through stop-start heavy traffic and a million scooters.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali.
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali. Legian through to Canggu is the busier area now. Kuta is great for restaurants and bars. More suited to middle aged. Beach is not as good as Legian or Sanur, but acceptable.Guest review bysargentsteveAustralia - 8.0

this is an up and coming area in Bali. it looks like it will be upmarket from the shops, bars and restaurants that are already there. Its very busy and the traffic is hectic ( as is everywhere in Bali). Its a younger persons place as plenty of parties and activities. Would recommend to anyone under 40 that wants a hip vibe and action. if your older stick to SanurGuest review byDeannaAustralia - 8.0

a great mix of hustle & bustle, and the quiet of the villa when you needed recovery time, or needed the peace for a leisurely massage; very easy to get around with Gojek app (for food or transportation); the traffic is an annoyance thoGuest review byVinash - 10

Uluwatu is certainly the tourist destination for fitness and wellness lovers, or those that love the coast. The locals are extremely welcoming, and whilst I don't necessarily recommend it, you can travel most of it on foot compared to the rest of the island. The businesses are a lot more westernised and is a great first stop for your Bali trip experience.Guest review byConnor - 6.0
The Hyatt Regency hotel, gardens, grounds and path and beach...
The Hyatt Regency hotel, gardens, grounds and path and beach directly in front are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Cant fault that at all. However walk a few metres along the pathway and there is rubbish and demolished buildings which detract from the environment.Guest review bySusanNew Zealand - 10
I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed...
I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed longer. I stayed at Prapat Beach, which was close enough to Penida Ferry Port and stunning, with an amazing view of Agung on a clear day. My accomodation was in a great spot and is as advertised. Sari Nadi Beach Stay is only a few k's from the harbour but with traffic, it took around 30mins. I did a tour of West island beaches, which I found disappointing because it was so busy, shoulder-to-shoulder busy! It felt it was impossible to really enjoy it with so many people. The walk down to Kelingking Beach might have been worth it if you didn't have to keep stopping for someone to get their perfect shot! The drive through the countryside was worth it alone though, and if your new to the island, it's a great way to get your bearings for a return visit. Crystal Beach was my pick of the beaches, just don't forget to bring a towel or change to hire one and a bed. Otherwise, you can sit at a table. Overall, I can't wait to go back! One tip, check if there are any days of (religious) observance when you stay. My stay coincided with Nyepi Laut, 'Silence of the Ocean' which means no water activity, great for me because it meant peace and quiet but not if you needed to travel that day.Guest review bySharonAustralia - 10

This is a great place to stay - plenty of shops, massage and restaurants - the beach is lovely with a lot going on all the time. Some good restaurants right on the beach and lots of surf schools etc. There are lifeguards in one area, not always marked and in the same place every day - not moved to the safest swim area. But there are nearly always very competent surfers around and lots of people keeping an eye out. But take care, the currents can be changeable. We keep coming back to this area.Guest review byCatherine AnnNew Zealand - 10

Nusa Lembongan is much more relaxed than Bali. You can also get accommodation with fantastic views and beach access for a reasonable price. So many activities to do such as surfing, snorkelling, diving, fishing, etc. Once you've been to Nusa Lembongan, you will definitely come back again.Guest review byEvanAustralia - 8.0
Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants.
Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants. Rooms are tired in need of upgrades and painting , but were clean and a very powerful shower. Staff were amazing and a good buffet breakfast with fresh omelette/pancakes. Pool area was relaxing and could do with a few more sunbeds. Didn’t get to the beach but a good shuttle service available. Supermarket and ATM just across the road.Guest review byJayneUnited Kingdom
