Great for walking, cycling, beaches, the port, the old town, shopping. Quite busy. Weather nice for October. Nice bars, restaurants, hotels. Staff very accomodating and friendly. Dubrovnik 2 parts : newer and the port and the old town ( a must visit ). Great views of the old town from the hill. Good location for trips to Bosnia, Montenegro and some other parts of Crotia as not too far.Guest review byAnonymousIreland - 8.0

The Arboretum Trsteno was an interesting place, a respite from the heat. It was cool in the trees. Game of Thrones episodes are filmed at the fountain! But there is no cafe, only a vending machine. Walking down to the sea for a swim was worth it, but you need sturdy footwear, water and snacks.Guest review byClaire ZingelNew Zealand - 10

Zaton is 15min from crowded Dubrovnick, just a right amount of driving on a very nice coastal road to reach the city center. The bay is so peacefull with only a couple of nice seafood and italian restaurants all "pied dans l'eau" Just sip some wine, in the water or on the decks and enjoy the sunrise, the sunset and the moonrise, between water boats and a mountain.Guest review bydianaLebanon - 6.0

Definitely recommend if you want peace and quiet - at least it does provide this in low season, not sure what it is like in high season. Easy to get to from Dubrovnik. Plenty of walks. Great sandy Sunji beach, but no facilities in low season. In low season the downside was that everywhere is shuttered at 6pm so you better make sure you have supplies and a kitchen or eat early. A lot of areas also appeared rundown and areas not accessible e.g the art installation or the Rector's palace. Not to mention the monstrous white hotel building the other end of the bay which completely takes away from the beauty of the original village.Guest review byElisabethUnited Kingdom - 10

Very relaxed island, not somewhere to go if you like the bust night life & entertainment on tap. This is a place to kick back & take life a more leisurely pace. We went with our family of 11, 4 young adult children & partners, 1 teen & ourselves. There was enough to keep everyone occupied, beach, bars, boat trips, walking, reading, card games. Getting to the island is easily accessed by a ferry service & there are plenty of smaller boats for hire if those times don’t suit. There is also a good bus service to the other side of the island for a change in scenery. A lovely place for a holiday.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Orasac is a rather small and tranquil village about 25 mins.
Orasac is a rather small and tranquil village about 25 mins. car drive from Dubrovnik downtown (old town). There are several restaurants, but closed during off season, however the little bar and local shop seemed quite busy during our stay over Easter. Loads of restaurant opportunities though nearby at the Sun Gardens Resort or in Zaton, a little fisher village next to Orasac. Definitely a quiet spot to relax after a busy touristy day in Dubrovnik. Lovely views of the Elaphiti islands off shore.Guest review byglobetrotter1999Switzerland - 10

Absolutely beautiful setting complemented by kind and attentive staff who really made us feel at home. The island itself has stunning views and lovely beaches (also with shade/ child friendly options). Kalamota staff went the extra mile and we wish we could return!Guest review byMelissaUnited Kingdom - 10

Dubrovnik is a wonderful city to visit but can get very busy. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to visit the main sites if you want to avoid the tour groups. The 3 and 7 day passes, to visit the main sites, are good value. Walking the city walls is a must and don't forget West Harbour, just outside the city walls.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Mokošica is a dormitory suburb of Dubrovnik.
Mokošica is a dormitory suburb of Dubrovnik. It is not interesting or particularly attractive per se, but is an excellent base to visit the Old Town (just 10 min. by bus) and to explore the surrounding area by car -- from Cavtat in the SE to Ston in the NW.Guest review bySergeUnited States - 10

Zaton was a very peaceful, small harbour village/town with a few restaurants, swimming spots, a shop, as well as opportunities for excursions. Being just off the main road there is easy access to Dubrovnik and other towns. There's a gorgeous church and woodland walk, with great views across the bay. You could easily stay within Zaton for a more secluded and relaxing break, or use it as a base to venture out from. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful - English was spoken by all.Guest review byClareUnited Kingdom
