Kavala is nice small city with epic views and interesting atmosphere. Can be quite busy during season, but manageable and good in end of the season. Weather is also good, its hot but not too much. Xanthe is charming: the old town was quaint and picturesque, and the people of Xanthe extremely friendly and helpful. The town is full of enormous plane trees providing beaty and shade, and is circled by dramatic mountains. I was there to settle my son into college, and it feels very folksy and safe, and small-town friendly. I look forward to spending more time exploring in subsequent visits.Guest review byVaughan - 8.0

It's a nice town, but nothing special.
It's a nice town, but nothing special. The beach is huge, and the side facing the harbor is very shallow with quiet water. There isn't a pedestrian area in the town and the traffic near the harbor where most of the taverns are can be quite busy. Limenas is the best location to stay in Thassos especially if you have kids. Everything is near walking distance restaurants and supermarkets. Beautiful beaches. Amazing fresh fish. Potos is a lively town with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. The beach is large and had sun beds that are usually free with a purchase, and the hospitality staff were friendly and helpful. Potos is a great location and is in near reach to other places, usually around a 10/20 minute drive. It is close to Theologos, Giola and other nice beaches including Notos and Rosogremos (both beautiful beaches). Ofrynio Beach is a place under development, with a lot of buildings under constructions. There is a lot of dust everywhere. Still, the beach is really lively and high quality.
