The staff is outstanding - they even reached out to the Municipal Swimming Center to check conditions to go for a training there. This extra effort impressed us and we decided to go back to the hotel early next year. we appreciated the wonderful breakfast and that the unheated hotel pool was still open and clean in December.

Beautiful family owned and run village, everyone is incredibly nice and helpful - be it extra utilities, recommendations or just friendly chats. Perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet, plus a good location for day trips such as Lentas or Matala. Might have gained a couple of pounds, breakfast buffet, snack and dinner are just too good :)

    We loved every minute of our stay. From the minute we walked in, we loved it. I believe it is the most beautiful reception I have ever seen - the ocean as a backdrop is just picture perfect. The lobby smelled amazing and we were welcomed in the most hospitable manner. The service was outstanding - it was more than the usual friendly and polite service, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. They service we experienced was true hospitality with heart. The breakfast had the most amazing selection. The views all around the resort are incredible - starting from the lobby, to the room, to the pool, we loved that you could see the ocean from almost every angle.     It situated right on the beach. 2 big swimming pools, 2 for babies. It has a beautiful garden with lots of palm trees and many kind of flowers, bushes. Great animation team. Lots of activities during the day and the evening. The sea is rocky, swimming shoes needed. Great variety of foods in the main reastaurant and the tavern next to the big swimming pool. At arrival a plate of fruits, a bottle of wine and water provided by the hotel. Every day one bottle of water in the room provided by the hotel. Safe box on the is free of charge.

    Heraklion has a lot of car and bike traffic.

    Heraklion has a lot of car and bike traffic. It is like peak hour in Sydney constantly. Parking is horrendous. I would recommend staying out of Heraklion. Drive to Knossos Palace, but go early. The other attraction for us was the Archaeological Museum. Get a uber or taxi to that. The foreshore looks like they gave up on it years ago. After Chania, Heraklion was a disappointment.

    It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

    Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

    The hotel complex is well laid out.

    The hotel complex is well laid out. Although set in a hill there are plenty of lifts if you don't like using stairs. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. Bathrooms are modern and clean. It's a great place to just relax by the pool by the bar or on your balcony. It's north facing so full sun in the morning. There is a good gym and a beauty spa. The evening entertainment is varied and of a good standard. A lot of the shows are held in an open air ampitheatre ideal for a summers evening. There is a regular bus run by the hotel down to the local beach which is helpful as the road down is steep and narrow. The restaurant is excellent. The choice and quality of food is outstanding and delicious. The staff are helpful and always have a smile on their faces. If you like an all inclusive holiday where you can laze around be active then this is highly recommended.

    Matala is something different and when you there you just fell in love. Of course if you are looking for the crystal clear water, Matala is not the one, even though the surronding landscape is something beautiful. Nights in Matala can't be boring. There is always something to do and have fun. It is defenitley worth a visit.

    A quiet area, but the beach close by is not the best (still ok if you wanna just refresh a bit) and you need the car if you want to see and explore more (even in the surroundings). There are buses, though, to move to/from major points of interest. The location I chose (Kri-Kri Village) was perfect and I had the best time! Extremely relaxing, chill vibe and you can reach great beaches not far. Suggested!

    Lovely resort with loads of different bars, restaurants and tavernas to suit everyone. Not rowdy or loud. Beaches are good with some places offering free sunbeds. Plenty of different hotels to choose from. A trip up the mountain to Mochos is recommended on a Wednesday night for Greek night. It’s in a square surrounded by tavernas for all to enjoy the entertainment. It’s recommended you get someone to book a table in one of the tavernas as it’s very busy. We got a taxi up it took about 15 mins and was 15 euros.

The beach has some organized areas with sunbeds, but it gets very busy during the summer peak season, particularly on Sundays when many locals also head to the beaches. The sunbeds tend to get taken quickly, so if you miss out, you can still relax on the sand—but bringing your own umbrella is a good idea for some shade.

    We stayed at Kato Gouves which is slightly out of Gouves.

    We stayed at Kato Gouves which is slightly out of Gouves. There are some lovely restaurants and taverna's. We've been many times and like to walk to the beach at Analipsi where there is plenty space.
