Rochefort is a very nice town by any standards.
Rochefort is a very nice town by any standards. It has lots of history in that it was where the French made their eary war ships and there is a dedicated museum to this, The town is laid out on a grid system so its easy to navigate. Huge street market once a week, plus an indoor market place. There are lots of other museums and you should get on line to see all the attractions that are available. In September it was already a bit sleepy but the bicycle paths and public transport ensured that it's easy to see other towns and the city too. A historic port city with lots of fortifications, history, architecture, culture, fabulous scenery, great walks, lovely beach, and an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops all contained in a safe walkable city.
