From booking in to signing out we had an totally wonderful experience. Incredible, warm, friendly owners and staff; they could easily become personal friends! We left two days ago and we already miss them all and we are non-Spanish speakers!! Wonderful setting on the banks of a tidal inlet well away from traffic noise and fumes. (Some of the birds made a noise!) Booking details explain the renovation of farm buildings to create this personal hotel but they don't tell the story of the care, and the beauty and attention to detail of the craft skills in this renovation. Nor do they sell the picture of the outside seating watching the tide gently lapping in! (If you can, do go onto the Finca Goleta private website and see the pictures and video for yourself. They do not exaggerate.) Remarkable breakfast spread. Be wary if you are on a diet and have no self-control; expected breakfast offering plus extra delicious items too numerous to mention here. It was amazing to arrive in Portomarin and dip my feet in the river. It was the best foot spa experience I have ever had. Great spot to rest when walking the Camino from Sarria. The town was very quiet when we visited on a Sunday with few people around and most restaurants were closed. We ended up eating at a tourist place where the waiter was more interested in finishing his shift. We visited a Roman House of Mosaics museum which actually gave very little information and the mosaics were not very easy to see. The Roman exhibition and museum by the Porta Mina was far more interesting - I'd recommend visiting that one first. The cathedral was not at all welcoming at a cost of EUR 8, photography forbidden and the cathedral museum was very poorly presented. The Roman walls are quite astonishing and will take a good 30-40 mins to walk around. Be aware this town is built on a steep hillside.Guest review byTraceyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The hotel was right on the harbour so it was great to have look around the boats ect. A short walk uphill into the town and you find plenty of bars and good restaurants. If you dont fancy the walk into town there are 3 good fish restaurants on or around the harbour. The public room where you could have a beer or glass of wine or other beverage from the fridge and paid thru the honor system was a highlight. Also, the laundry service was amazing -- they even folded all our clothes. The breakfast was a delicious and beautiful toast, cheese and egg sandwich. It is a friendly town of the new and old that honours and celebrates Galician heritage, writers and poets. As a customer in shops, cafés, taverns and restaurants you fell welcome and respected. Taverna Galega - A Lareira, is close to the Albergue and has a special atmosphere, excellent service and fine, daily selection of Pinchos. I was only in Sarria for less than 2 days at the start of a camino walk to Santiago. It was a very interesting town with lovely old stone buildings, views, good cafes and restaurants and bars. very interesting historically.
