Caceres is a lovely old mediaeval city, walled and interesting, but not too touristy. We will certainly go back, because there's more to see (even though it's a compact old town, there's a lot there). The bars and restaurants aren't a rip-off: we had a very good menu del dia for 17 euros - slightly more than one would pay in a village restaurant or a via de servicio, but we were on the Plaza Mayor, just below the city walls, and the food was excellent and very generous. The rest of the city has plenty of nice bars and restaurants as well.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Wow! Just so much to see.
Wow! Just so much to see. Surprised we hadn’t heard of Mérida until we were looking for somewhere to break our journey between Lisbon and Seville. One of the most walkable places we have ever been to. Loved it!Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We did not have much time in the town but we spent a few hours and it seemed to be a great town. The town is very very clean, well looked after and we felt safe walking around the town. The squares are beautiful, the plants, flowers are gorgeous!! We ate a great meal at kebab closer to the hotel Sercotel Grand Hotel. We had delicious ice cream at Heladeria ‘Augustin Mira’… loved it. The hotel is really worth staying. Beds are comfortable and the place spotless! The breakfast is the best so far. Lots of options and variety of fruits, juices, cold meats, breads and there was butter croissants and chocolate croissants. Different options of cakes, including cupcakes and the coffee, the best!!Guest review byAna Leticia PylesIreland - 8.0

Plasencia is a small town, the centre has narrow hilly streets, parking in the centre is difficult but there is plenty of free parking near to the park with an escalator to take you up the steep hill to the centre. There are several supermarkets, a Carrafeur on the North side and several smaller supermarkets on the south side. There is a river running along the East side. There are many restaurants available, fast food near to the Carrafeur and more upmarket ones in the centre. Plasencia is at the foot of the Jerte valley, where most of the cherries in Spain are grown, you can drive to the top of the valley, which takes around an hour and is very scenic.Guest review byPhilipUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely city, well recommended.
Lovely city, well recommended. Good food generally and we found one superb restaurant. People tend to eat later than many areas so be aware of this. Plenty to do for a 2 night stay. Very interesting place.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Entering the city not exciting., but I didn’t want to stay in a big city of Seville ( I was going north Spain). 90 minutes from airport was just perfect to recover from jet lag. Plaza Mayor very pleasant- like most of the Spanish cities. Cobbled streets, small shops, cafes- add a nice atmosphere to the city.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 10.0

Hotel lovely but surrounding cafe restaurants were a little shoddy, a sweep of the streets now and then could go a long way, not alot of variation. Nice shops selling local produce. Recommend Dalboroque lovely little bar selling craft beers and really nice wines get some tapa there too. Run by a lovely young lady named Jessica, well worth a visit and only 2 or 3 minutes from the parador on Calle Gregorio Lopez 3Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Hervás is a centre for walking activities in the Ambroz...
Hervás is a centre for walking activities in the Ambroz Valley and is surrounded by forests and mountain ranges. The town itself has a modern part with all the usual amenities. However, the heart of Hervás is the historical Jewish Quarter that runs from one of the pretty squares down to the Ambroz River. This part is Medieval and very interesting and atmospheric. Hervás boasts an excellent book shop and many shops dedicated to local produce. There are good restaurants and coffee shops. It's a perfect base for a holiday in this part of Extremadura, Spain.Guest review byLa CañameraSpain - 10.0
It is a city with a lovely centre.
It is a city with a lovely centre. It is easy to wander around and it has lots of monuments to visit. Its cuisine is worth mentioning; you must try Iberian pork, not just the typical ham, but other parts of the animal too. Were I you, I would find out about the restaurants; it is essential to choose the most suitable one, not for the price, but for the quality of the product.Guest review byGandulfoSpain - 10.0

Caceres is well worth a trip.Theres lots to see and much atmosphere to soak up.Nice friendly city/town with many nearby places worth a visit such as Truillo and Guadalupe......Actually the historic architecture in both Caceres and Truillo is something to write home about!..If your into nature there are literally scores of square Kms of wild flowers in the surrounding countryside thanks to light touch farming practises and this brings many insects which in turn bring many birds and other creatures...Definitely worth a trip is the national park in Monfrague so youll need to hire a car to get the best of that type of thing.Guest review bymichaelIreland
