This is a brand-new, very stylish hotel. I loved it! The rooms are comfortable and exciting. All staff members are helpful and very pleasant. We enjoyed chatting with them very much, but they were also very efficient at their work and made sure everything was running smoothly. Besides all the other delicacies they offer for breakfast, fresh bread is also something to remember. I also loved the cow farm that this high-end hotel restaurant window overlooks—it seemed exciting to us. We got a free Ticino card at the reception, including free public transportation and discounts at some Locarno city attractions, a nice bonus.

We only had one night at the place but we had a nice drinks outside in the evening, breakfast with the view (amazing options, including some prosecco) and chilled at the pool for half a day. They have a secured parking nearby (you can unload the car at the hotel and then take the car, 3 min walk). Rooms were just the right size with very comfy beds.

    Lugano is a nice little town with all facilities and transportation points near at hand. Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore are excellent points to visit with breathtaking panoramic views. We also did a day trip to Morcote which was also very nice specially Scherrer's Park. Back in Lugano, Parco Ciani and Piazza Riforma are excellent places to hang around and have meals. We had some excellent Ticinese food at La Tinera which is not to be missed if one wants to sample the regional cuisine.

    I think Locarno is going to be one of the new tourist hotspots in the next decade. This spot is beautiful. Amazing lakeside retreat on the alps - the views are not comparable to anything I have ever seen. I loved that it was less crowded than most lakeside European cities I have been to - and think this is a great stop if you are in the Como/Milan area. 10/10 recommend for some relaxation, rejuvenation, and a vacation you won't forget.

    Losone is the underrated, non-touristy part of Ascona and Locarno. It is, therefore, where many residents live because it is quiet, with great access to the Maggia river. The best tip is to walk along the river. It is very well connected by bus, so if you want an area that is safe but above all affordable, then this is the area to stay. Ascona is expensive for what is literally a 5 minute bus ride away. From Losone you can equally head to Locarno as well as Ascona, or indeed go into one of the many valleys.

    You must take a swim in the lake.

    You must take a swim in the lake. Near the parking garage is a swimming platform. The lake is perfect. Don't test the water first, Don't dip a toe. Take a few steps back, run, jump high, Dive in a resurface a human reborn. Months latter I still think about that dive in the water in the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. The town is expensive.     Not a massive amount to do in Melide itself, but there a few nice little restaurants and a Miniature Model Village for the kiddies. A short bus ride/ train ride from Laguna and accommodation seemed much cheaper. We ate in the hotel restaurant, which was borderline fine dining, so food was amazing but a little expensive; presecco, a bottle of medium priced wine and two medium priced secondi meals cane to about €170 plus tip. We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade, staying in a wonderful apartment with Hammam and kitchenette; always nice to get an upgrade, so many thanks again 😁

    Aiolo is probably beautiful in the snow and it has superb...

    Aiolo is probably beautiful in the snow and it has superb trails up behind in the countryside with Swiss cows wearing bells and mountain goats. Lovely old houses and probably once a delightful place. Sadly now dominated by a huge concrete factory and all the noise and dust that entails. Better to stay at the San Gottardo hotel probably, which is actually ON the pass itself, or above the pass.

    A lovely town filled with shops and restaurants on the edge...

    A lovely town filled with shops and restaurants on the edge of a stunning lake. A great place to take a boat ride to nearby towns, go for walks or enjoy the lake with nice restaurants and shops. There are two gondolas nearby and it's a short train ride to the castles of Bellinzona or the activities near Monte Tamaro. A boat ride to Gandria is also lovely, as is the walk back to Lugano.
