What a nice 2 night stay at Wakefield mill. We had 2 deluxe rooms in the main Mill building. The rooms were very comfortable, rustic and had lots of space. We had a lovely view over the river. We had lunch and dinner at the Heron bistro, the food was excellent. We had breakfast at the main restaurant and it was also excellent, with attention to presentation. The staff in general was very welcoming and friendly. The General Manager came to speak with us the first morning of our stay and recommended some local walks in Wakefield town. Two members of our party had a massage at the spa, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We didn't try the outside spa, however, it looked really welcoming by the river. The outdoors facilities are really nice, with the red Adirondack chairs and the gardens. We will absolutely return if we are in this area.

I enjoyed the breakfast, there were many choices and it was delicious. I liked that there were many towels in the washroom. I was glad that the curtain covered all the light from outside. It is also near Ottawa and I like vibes of the neighbourhood. There was also a good burger place nearby.

It was a cute little hotel with a beautiful spa (sauna inside and large hotubs outside) with lots of seating. An empty fridge for you to bring your own snacks. Great location and only 20 min drive to the airport

I love Gatineau, it was my childhood home.
I love Gatineau, it was my childhood home.
It is very beautiful, however, with all the construction, long weekend traffic & Ironman rally detours unbeknownst to us tourists, plus a couple fender benders, traffic was horrific for getting around.

A pleasant and picturesque small western Quebec town. The few folks we did interact with were welcoming, and language was not a barrier in any way. A nice place to visit, about an hour out of Ottawa/Gatineau. Definitely worth a day trip.

Wakefield is a wonderful place.
Wakefield is a wonderful place. A very nice village in a very beautiful natural environment. A special place in the Province of Québec. I believe that visitors will feel a special, possibly bohemian lifestyle. Once one gets there, everything is in walking distance. Nice cafés, nice restaurants, nice boutiques, live music, friendly people and all this embedded in beautiful nature in the valley of the Gatineau River, surrounded by the Gatineau Hills, neighbouring the Gatineau National Parc. Great hiking opportunities, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, shopping, good food, and music.
Since Wakefield had been founded by English and Scottish immigrants, once upon a time, it has preserved its English-speaking character despite French being the first language in Québec.
On a side note regarding winter, fans of alpine skiing will even find their ski hill in Wakefield, night skiing included.

There is a lake and some hikes around, easily accessible from Gite le Tresor Cache B&B. It is a restful place where you can also just enjoy a glass of wine on a terrace and enjoy the natural surroundings.

It's a cute little town full of B&Bs, bistros and shops. I went to the Nordik Spa, which is wonderful, and I'm sure to be back.
I would like to go back in the summer, when certain landmarks and trails are more accessible.

From going to the museum of history to see all the exhibitions and activities they have there. Then enjoy outdoor activities at the Gatineau park doing cycling, hiking, walking looking to beautiful scenery views at the lake Pink!!. Then finish you journey a great restaurants ad bars.

Wonderful stay, beautiful grounds, amazing lobby, many activities for family, had a great massage.
Did: curling, squash, board games, snowshoeing, hike, tubing, swimming, whirlpool..
Love the dog-friendly environment, and many nice dogs in lobby.
Restaurant good, but remember a fuller breakfast buffet, and also a table d'hote option for dinner, no longer offered.
Try the Bistro in Montebello villate, amazing! The one that says 'pizza ou four' (wood oven pizza) in window.
Older rooms are a bit tired, if you want the old charm, but I understand likely awaiting renovation.
Miss the old La Seignorie bistro in the hotel, hopefully it opens again.
Miss the running tube lift! Seems this activity may be on the way out?
