Loved the entire cabin. It was very cozy and comfortable with heating in every room and a fireplace in the main hall. Had all the kitchen appliances with pots, pans, plates and bowls and cutlery, even including salt/pepper and dishwashing liquid (which was new to me). Room is very cozy and warm.. Plus you are given complimentary coffee, tea and cookies which is definitely welcome. Would recommend the raisins and oats cookie which was very tasty.. Although I didn't use, they also have a game room with a pool table and other games with the option of borrowing a DVD player and DVDs to watch a movie at your cabin. All in all, love the place!! Definitely visiting again!!

The property is beautiful in a remote setting along a creek on the Bow Valley Parkway. Everything you needed for comfort was in the room or available at the front desk. Staff were friendly and helpful and had good suggestions about the area. We enjoyed the in room jacuzzi tub, sauna, steam room and the outdoor firepit. The rooms were larger than most similar places I have stayed at in the area and very clean and comfortable beds.

I'm not a big fan of Calgary, but I go there to visit my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. Otherwise, I really don't have any reason to go there. It's just another city with very little distinction. I'm more of a rural person, so take my opinion for what it's worth and how much you paid for it. I've heard Stampede is good. My daughter likes living there. There are lots of great restaurants. Lots of great steaks and better than average liquor selections in every small corner store.

Wonderful area to explore the mountains of Canada.

Wonderful area to explore the mountains of Canada. Early October didn't have too many crowds. There are many places to see on your own, so consider renting a car and hitting the road. We truly enjoyed the fresh, mountain air and the downtown area of Banff. Banff is quite expensive, especially going out to eat, so be prepared for that.

We ate at Fiddle River- the food was excellent and the service was superb. We also had an icecream at Scoops- the range of flavors was tremendous. Lake Louise attracts thousands of visitors who have to be managed; it's overshadowed by the mass of the fairmont Chateau hotel. Louise is one of hundreds of vividly coloured, turquoise lakes in the Alberta Rockies. If you want beauty with a little peace and quiet look elsewhere. Emerald lake, half an hour away from Louise, is beautiful ad attracts fewer visitors. Peyto lake, see photo, on the Icefield Parkway is perhaps the most dramatic (hint: don't turn right into the parking but continue straight on to the upper parking and avoid a strenuous climb uphill on foot). Accommodation at Lake Loise is expensive. Consider staying in Banff or Golden and driving into the area. Parks Canada has useful info about shuttle service and parking.

We used Leduc as a staging area, before flying home from the Edmonton airport, which is also a very nice airport, with lots of amenities. In that respect, Leduc is full of hotels, restaurants, etc., I.e. all the amenities you may want or need, before driving or flying to your next or final destination. Also, if you rented a vehicle for your trip, you can fill the gas tank up at a reasonable price at Costco or some of the gas stations near the airport (just look on GasBuddy) before returning your rental vehicle.

I loved walking the blocks around the Villa, with many new shops and services, and a revitalized vintage feel. There were places to shop and eat, though we were there on a Monday morning when most were closed. There are several beautiful old churches to admire, and a striking new city hall.
