The location is excellent. Frontside to a walking zone, than a park and than the river. To the side a quiet dead end. During our stay there were preparations for upgrade of the street. Everywhere beautifying is going on. When we left the police was blocking access to the street for that purpose. The hotel itself is really white. Outside from the painting, inside from the marble of the stairs and much lighting. The walls are decorated with paintings in the syle of Botticelli (a nude) or Degas (young girls) or Cezanne (the houses of Berat). The rooms are very clean with useful furniture. There were even two chairs inside and on the balcony, ample space for luggage and a spacious bathroom, where as everywhere vou could not find a place for your toiletteries. The shower in a corner is a prefabricated plastic installation, but, you don`t believe with glass walls to all sides. No splashes to the ground or on the toilette like elsewhere. The Breakfast was very good, even fresh fruit. Only in the Sar òtel in Tirana we had the same quality.Guest review byWolfgangGermany

It is close to everything, we parked the car and didn't use it until it was time to leave. Our room was on the top floor, so it only had skylights, which for us it was okay - it was what we selected. View from the hotel shared balcony is amazing, specially at night with all the street lights Based on reviews, we decided to have dinner here, and we were not disappointed! Food was delicious and they served us this home made red wine that was amazing (for those who enjoy more bitter/less sweet wines). They prepare an amazing breakfast and everything is fresh from their own field. The view is extraordinary from the terrace. It's very cozy, you'll feel like you're home. The location is nice as well, you can go up to the castle or down to the center from there. They also drove us to Saranadë after checking out. They charged us almost as much as a taxi would with the added bonus of them taking us from the costal line road. You think you make a hotel booking but you get a brother in Kseno and a mother, gjyshja who cook for you and serve you with love and affection. Restaurant Klea itself is a reason to stay here because of the lovely homemade breakfast (included in the booking). The rooms are basic but effective and serve the needs of guests. The owners are very lovely and are willing to help with anything you need. We didn't have a parking spot, so the owner helped us with the luggage and took the car to the private parking spot(cost 2€) and brought it back the next morning. The castle walls on top of the hill are excellent to visit, but the experience is let down slightly by all the cars entering the castle grounds. The old town area is nice for a short visit, but not as extensive and "used" as other similar towns. Berat is know as village/ town of 1000 windows. There are 2 area of the old town which are on both sides of the river. It worth just wandering the streets of both old towns. The view from the castle also gives a different perspective. A beautiful old town with so much character.
