Hemantha, the owner and manager of hotel and his son Dulana have built a truly beautiful pearl in the middle of the rainforest. With excellent English, they took care of us and fulfilled all our wishes. This is our fifth time in Sri Lanka, but we visited Kitulgala for the first time during our travels and I can recommend this area to everyone to visit. Waterfalls in the middle of the forest and rafting on the river are among the great experiences that this hotel offers you at a very fair price. And then you can let yourself be pampered in the comfort of the hotel with great food and enjoy a bath in the beautiful natural pool or right in the small clean river that flows around the hotel. Absolutely stunning place for people who are looking for very calm, relaxing and beautiful rest. Located out of the city, directly in tea gardens. Really recommend ‘tea making” as activity there for people who want to know more about tea. Very delicious local food.

We came across Wanakaset accidentally and fitted it into our already tight schedule, so we could only stay for one night, which is a shame. We would have liked to stay at least one more night to see more of the estate, especially as we had the “Apple room”, which is the big room at the front side of the building with the best view. We very much enjoyed this unusual accommodation, the fantastic views and the fireflies at night. The bed was the most comfy we had in Sri Lanka and despite our concerns we had no problems with mosquitos. Also we had our own (but not ensuite) bathroom, which we did not expect. Maybe because Wanakaset was not fully booked.

The breakfast was splendid, a pleasure. An elegant sufficiently. You must allow the staff to make your meals as they are excellent. Served in an old world elegance. Do patronise this facility and you have made great memories. Also visit the waterfall to cool off and see some jungle rainforest

This is a pretty new property located in a privileged area with an incredible view. The rooms are super beautiful as you can see in the pictures. We found it a perfect place to spend the night after visiting the Elephant Freedom Project which is few minutes away. They also have an infinity pool with a great view on the terrace where you can also enjoy breakfast in the morning if weather allows. They also provide dinner/lunch and the menu has a big variety of different kinds of food for a very fair price. We tasted it and it was amazing. The manager was very attentive of our needs and did everything possible to make our stay perfect.
