We had an amazing time and evening with them and the other guests. We also were helped out with a vegeterian dinner since the restaurants nearby did not offer such an option. Our unexpected highlight of the trip!

Everything was exceptionally great. Very cozy place and very clean. Surrounding environment was very nice. The “woodness” inside looks great. We were two people booking the “4-Bed Mixed Dormitory Room”, we get the whole room (with bathroom and shower) even it says “bunk bed” and “dormitory”, kitchen was shared though. I would definitely come back if I have the chance.

Enjoy to stay with Hide and his wife ! Very friendly and give me some train time details ! Both of them can communicate in English. They also provide the kitchen for cooking . They own the Thai restaurant on Friday & weekend . I love their stylish toilet and their cat is so cute. Thank you !

The accommodation is a very big tradition Japanese house. The host is very friendly and interesting. You may request the host to prepare (DIY) BBQ for dinner. It is delicious and interesting, highly recommended. They heat the volcano stone to cook the BBQ.

Everything was perfection - starting from my arrival, public bathhouse experience, the cozy room, delicious dinner and breakfast and very kind staff members. The view of Mt. I had an absolutely wonderful time at this homestay. The owners are very generous and the rooms are great. You also have a beautiful view Aso mountain. The breakfast is very large you have everything from fruits, cakes/bread, salad and some yummy savoury pizza like things. They only recently opened so please come by and enjoy their wonderful hospitality. You won't regret it.

Rental villa Gontaya, a property with a terrace, is situated in Takamori, 50 km from Kumamoto Castle, 25 km from Mount Aso, as well as 39 km from KK Wings.

Very nice house close to Mount Aso. For us as western foreigners the whole region was quite different from the picture we typically make ourselves of Japan - much more rural and rather sparsely populated. Very interesting to see and experience. Ken is an excellent host, giving great recommendations and caring for his guests.
