It is located away from busy city in the mountains, but still close to a train station.it took max 30min to arrive to the hotel on their free shuttle bus. Very convenient. The hotel is lovely and warm , nicely decorated. My favourite was the outdoor hot spring bath with forest and river views. it was snowing outside which made it even a more special experience. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, especially the lady who looked after us, Miss Shiori, who made an effort to speak with us and explain everything in English. Thank you!

Traditional style ryokan with the nicest and most hospitable hosts. Every member of staff at chousenkaku was extremely helpful and kind, going out of their way to accommodate any requests. The location is excellent, a short 10 minute walk to the station and 5 minutes to a convenience store if needed. The food was spectacular - we were delighted with our choice to stay here. The building has a rich history too, for which information can be found in the lobby and by speaking to the staff. The private onsen is reasonably priced and well appointed with amenities, water etc.

Beautiful location and amazing food for a real taste of Japan.. The private outside onsen was lovely with great views over the hills - a great way to relax after a busy day. The owner was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us and even gave us a lift back to the station when we were leaving, which was a great help.

Very nice house with great facilities. We especially like the onsen that you can book for private time. Location is great if you are visiting Lake Shirakaba. It's probably the best around the area.

Managed to book a room including breakfast for AUD103 per night, for 2 nights. As a solo traveller, this was really worth the money as the hotel had an amazing onsen - two outdoor ones, an indoor one and a sauna. The breakfast was delicious, with them changing the menu if you stay the second day as well. It's traditional Japanese breakfast, with fish, sashimi, pickles, egg and dessert. They even heat up the clam miso soup using the portable fire at your table when you arrive. The room has air conditioning and a mini fridge.

Looking for a property with onsen?

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters.
