It is a fantastic jungle lodge with plenty of monkeys around, just by the National Park. Excellent food, helpful staff, and owner Dedi who is the mastermind behind this family business: He had the bungalows built on the family grounds (a small rubber plantation), he organizes jungle tours or transport. For us he arranged to see Orang Utans in the wild, a driver for one week, airport transfer and porters for our (too) heavy luggage, because you only reach the bungslows on foot by climbing 10-15 minutes of steps on a hill side.

From the cute little huts to the super kind and capable staff, we were happy about everything! We want to point out the excellent organization of our pick up and drive by Yusuf, the welcome at the lodge, then the core piece the jungle trekking with Andi who was so knowledgeable about orang-utans and the rain forest. The food at the lodge was great too.
Bukit Lawang is a place where things still seem intact and tourists are decent and treated kindly too. If it wasn‘t so far, I would go back in a heartbeat. It was an exceptionnal experience!

It includes breakfast, and in the restaurant they serve the best curry in town!

They accompany you, teach you and take care of you, they care about protecting the environment and the surroundings, proud of their culture and with a smile all day, attentive to us living one of the best experiences of our entire trip through Southeast Asia. Thanks also to Jill for an amazing dining experience in the middle of the jungle, we never imagined we would eat so well! You have a great team Sean, thank you so much!
Finally, thank you Brigitte for organizing everything and making our stay a unique and unforgettable experience!

Had the best time here. Initially booked for 1 night and then stayed for another 3! They have options of staying in the village or in the jungle, a tree house. I picked the latter. The place is simple and Udin's family that runs the place is amazing.
Balu (Udin's son) was our trekking guide for the day and he was amazing. We saw 3 orangutans (a mama and a baby, and a lone one) along with other monkeys.
Udin's wife Nuri cooks the food and every meal was lip smacking delicious. I was happy to be eating home food after my travels.
On my last night in the village, Nuri was nice enough to give me a chicken rendang cooking class in her kitchen and then we ate the same dish with the entire family.
All in all, if you're doing a Bukit Lawang trip it has to be with this family, or else are you really getting the authentic experience?

We were treated like family at on the rocks, wawan and his team were so helpful and friendly that we instantly felt at home. I cannot recommend staying here enough. We did multiple treks with Wong and he was wonderful, so much information to share but also never even felt like he was a guide. Treks can be suited for your fitness level but you are almost guaranteed to see orangutans no matter where you go. The restaurant was also delicious.

We walking from the lodge, we saw 5 Orangutans and the Alpha Male plus another 3 different type’s of monkeys all this was in the first few hours, the lunch was nice fruit and rice our guide was Aldo who was young but very professional ( highly recommend) he was smartly dressed fully equipped with a first aid kit ( leeches) and also spoke English it was a pleasure to be in his company.

Like the quiet yet calming of the atmosphere of the hotel. Highly recommended!

Great cabins to stay. These cabins and the whole property look great. Don’t expect a huge 5-star hotel, but a cozy lodge with 4 cabins. Jay is a great host. He can also arrange transport from and to Medan (airport), and excursions to the jungle (e.g. 2 day jungle tour with sleeping in the jungle).
Great lodges with a superb view very close to the jungle. Great for jungle trekking start and end point. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff and owner. Going out of their way to help out and ensure a pleasant stay. We would have loved to stay longer.
The lodges are very pretty and there is a cute waterfront cafe where Tia makes the best food. Tia is the best and together with her friends she makes up a very pleasant, fun and welcoming stay. See u soon Tia!
Our experience was perfect from the communication before arrival, the welcome and information, our stay in the Travelodge itself and the jungle trekking organized by the Travelodge and with our guide Felix.
The jungle lodge is away from the noise of the village with an incredible sunrise view and surrounded by wildlife including monkeys and fireflies. Udin is a wonderful and kind host that cares for his guests. I saw 6 orangutans on my trek, with one coming right up to us to steal our fruit - life changing.
Stayed one night in the lodge then booked the overnight trek with Uddin. Had such a special tim in the amazing nature, meeting local people and enjoying good food!! Would recommend the lodge and also the trek with lovely lodge &trekking to anyone. Saw many black gibbons and orangutans and he such a fun night in the jungle camping. Thank you for everything, all your help and hospitality and I hope to return one day ☺️
I recently stayed at the Eco Trekking Lodge and I really enjoyed my time here. The owner Tedy is a great and host and made me feel like a welcomed guest throughout my stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and also the location of the rooms is nice. I would definitely recommend staying here!
We loved our hostess Tia and the other people who work at Rambai Tree Jungle Lodges, they we're all so helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed to be a little more secluded as the lodge is up between the trees, but still in walking distance of everything you need. The accommodation also had a good restaurant!
We organized our entire stay in Bukit Lawang through Green Travellodge. Starting from the pickup from our hotel in Medan everything was planned well in advance and flawlessly executed. We especially enjoyed our 4d/3n jungle tour with Salmat and Jona, who were very knowledgeable about the area and always ensured we were the first at an Orang Utan sighting or an especially beautiful waterfall deep in the jungle. The only thing we regret is that we would have liked to stay at the Green Travellodge longer to explore the village more.
Awesome Guide and Family owned business. The lodges are really into the jungle and from my lodge i could see a young urang utan. Always watch your stuff because little meercats monkeys try to steal your food! Awesome experience over there, highly recommend.
