Beylerbeyi Palace
Constructed to include both eastern and western architectural elements, Beylerbeyi Palace was commissioned by Sultan Abdülaziz in 1861. One of the summer houses of Sultans on the shores of the Bosphorus - an oasis of calm and green on the busy road up the Asian side of the strait from Uskudar centre. Catch a 15 yellow bus or minibus - it's a long and noisy walk otherwise. This grand place is opulently decorated and furnished from the 19th century.
