Old fashioned decor, very warm and atmospheric, the restaurant especially is great for food and drinks with friends. The staff is utterly amazing, attentive, professional, solicitous and able to do everything in their power to make you feel welcome and cared for. I had to check out super early and required a taxi at the crack of dawn(forgot to book ahead, too), and the amazing lady at the reception called every taxi driver in the area to find me a ride to the train station. Highly recommend and will be back time and again. I also found the beds supremely comfortable- the pillows were fluffed up like clouds and sleeping was like nestling up in a dreamscape of perfect tranquility. Thanks for everything!

If you don't want the whole "tourist" experience and having to pay and schedule your visit then check google maps as there's a highway that passes very close by with some limited parking available. It's close enough for good pics!

I would strongly recommend not doing the standard trip that will put you there with gazillion people and your pictures will have hundreds of photo-bombers. Stay at Salisbury at one of their hotels, then book an early morning taxi before sunset (we stayed at Amesbury.. while that is closer to Stonehenge, it was not wise as the taxis come in from Salisbury anyway). Taxi dropped us at a road behind Stonehenge, and there was an open gate with a path right by the official roped off path. This way, we could see the Stonehenge from fairly close, not touch it though (which is fine!), with absolutely nobody else in sight, and see sunrise. The place is spiritual, and an early morning trip feels that way.

Well worth a visit if only to ponder how people that long ago managed to move and raise such enormous stones. Hopefully the long proposed tunnel will eventually be built. That will remove the background traffic noise from the A303.

Loved it. Not my first visit though.

Loved it. Not my first visit though. Tip- wear flat sensible foot wear, use the conveniences at the stonehenge centre before you visit, get the free bus if you don't want to walk though fields and woodland, take drinks and take your rubbish home with you.

Just a ten-minute drive from the historic site of Stonehenge, this small private hotel is located in the center of town. Situated in an inner courtyard, it's set back from the main street, making it very quiet at night. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Excellent stay here. Great location for Stonehenge. Cottage is modern inside, super clean and very well equipped, with full kitchen, and even toys for the kids, which really came in handy after a long day. Loved the private outside courtyard for eating under an umbrella. We cooked but there are a choice of takeaway restaurants directly opposite the house. Appreciated the thoughtful touches like water, juice boxes and extra cleaning supplies. Helpful and communicative hosts doing an amazing job.

Haha, the name of the hostel is quite misleading and it is close to Stonehenge by a large margin. In the morning of the next day I made a bold and risky decision to walk to Stonehenge in three hours on the road side of the highway. Nothing to blame the hostel but myself. It's a good hostel in a country style setting.

This hostel's location is fantastic. Stonehenge is a short (minutes) drive down the road. The rare breeds farm provides rural quiet, some interesting animal friends (peacocks greeted us at the door with a magnificent display and friendly sheep crowded around the fence), and lots of space for children to romp safely and securely. The staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Everything was clean. A kitchen, with refrigerator space, was available to use to make meals, set up like an Air BnB.
