Hosted by Pierre & Liesl Cronje

Pierre & Liesl Cronje
Nestled in a peaceful small-town setting just two minutes from the center of town, this charming historic cottage, your own small house for the stay, dates back more than 180 years. Originally built to store horse-drawn carriages and accommodate staff, it now offers guests a unique blend of heritage character and country comfort. We invite you to enjoy its timeless charm and comfortable simplicity during your stay.
Pierre is an adventurer at heart and an avid rock-climber, while Liesl is a kind and loving “Mother Nature,” as people fondly call her. “A year ago, we came to explore Bredasdorp as potential residents, partly as urban farmers tending our own small aquaponic farm, and partly to experience life ‘op die platteland’. We fell in love with the town and decided to stay.” In town, Pierre grows fresh vegetables for local restaurants as an urban aquaponic farmer, while Liesl works as a career-to-vocation coach and serves the community as local radio announcer, while also cultivating her own edible flowers aquaponically. “Be sure to enjoy some of our freshly grown aquaponics produce as a welcome gift upon your arrival. You’ll likely also be greeted by Lily, our dog, and Sophia, our cat.”
Although just minutes from town, the cottage feels like a peaceful retreat, with local shops, take-away options, and the Bredasdorp Nursery right across the street. The Overberg region is full of rolling hills, charming villages, and natural beauty. Struisbaai is 30 minutes away, Agulhas 35 minutes, and Arniston just 15 minutes. Nature lovers can explore the National De Hoop Nature Reserve 45 minutes away or the nearby Heuningberg, two minutes from the cottage, with trails through the region’s unique fynbos. Just 26 km south-east of Bredasdorp, between Arniston and Struisbaai, the De Mond Nature Reserve is a World Heritage Site and a haven for birdwatchers and hikers. In town, visit the Shipwreck Museum, Kapula Candles, or taste honey on tap from Southern Honey. The region’s cool-climate wine farms produce well-balanced, complex wines, perfect for a leisurely tasting. Every corner of the Overberg invites you to explore, relax, and soak in its charm.
