Company info

The owners, a couple of retired teachers, she was born in the main house of the accommodation, recovered the family heritage and created a rural tourism at its best. Their pleasure in welcoming tourists, family and friends. She manufactures, with all the taste, the cakes for breakfast, among which the traditional pão de ló, served often warm just out of the oven. She also likes to present its guests with tasty desserts and tasting a variety of delicious jams, only made with the village’s fruits. The owner has as its preferred hobby collecting information about the region: events, heritage, history, etc. He sorts all the collected information and searches the best way to present it to those visiting Outros Tempos. It is our pleasure to offer the visitors, on our website (www.outrostempos.com), 24 experiences to enjoy starting from Outros Tempos. In Outros Tempos, stays are moments full of leisure, culture, living together, knowledge.

Property info

Outros Tempos - Turismo de Aldeia, in the heart of the Douro Wine Region, offers you an excellent option for accommodation. The rural accommodation offer consists of 4 houses from the 17th/18th century, a mini Hotel - Casa Manuel Padeiro that has 4 bedrooms and 3 independent houses: T3 - Casa do Avô do Soito, T2 - Casa do Soqueiro or T1 - Casa do Penedo , these houses also include a living room and kitchen equipped for the preparation and consumption of meals. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy a real slice of Portuguese life and culture. It is like a return to the past, on a visit to our family, our grandparents, with a warm welcome, incarnation of the recognized and praised Portuguese hospitality. The granite houses and traditional architecture are "a kind of museum", allowing for a peaceful and relaxing stay experience. It is a special property, for its history, for its uniqueness. Two of the houses, out of the 4 that make up the property, already existed in 1640, the year of Portugal´s reconquest of independence, because according to a historian born in the village, the Count of Armamar, a Portuguese nobleman who sided with the Spaniards, took refuge there. A distinctive gate, with a beautiful cross and 2 side pyramids, bearing the date 1745 on the lintel, is one of the entrances to the main house. It is the only tourism in the Douro valley, whose accommodation takes place in typical village houses, with traditional architecture and local materials, granite and wood.

Neighborhood info

The village of Aricera, in the Douro Valley, home of Outros Tempos, is ancient. It has been, in Roman times, a rustic villa where ore was exploited. From the historical heritage there is the parish church with a beautiful altar in gilt, the invocation of Saint Cristovão, whose celebration takes place on 25 July. The elegant and old (1745) main house entrance gate in Outros Tempos can be a starting point for a healthy village tour through the narrow village streets lined with stone houses: one can observe the cradle district of the village, water sources and a community washing clothes tank, an interesting oil mill and the former prison of the village window from MDCCCXXIX (1829). Besides the walks around the village territory, the visitor can observe and participate in multiple rural activities that Outros Tempos offers you: December / January / February, pig party; February almond blossom; March / April, home-made sausages tasting; April, walks between apple trees in bloom; May / June shepherd for a day, the cherry harvest; July / August charm holidays, in family, in the village; September, the harvest feast; October, apple picking; November, chestnuts feast, wine tastings.
