Company info

I have operated Yeats Lodge since 2003. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the local area with my guests and hope they find North Sligo as amazing as I do. I particularly enjoy the vast array of archaeological sites that are located here. I enjoy landscape painting and have no shortage of stunning views to attempt. I am also passionate about gaelic football and am an active member of our local club Drumcliffe/Rosses Point GAA.

Property info

Yeats Lodge Accommodation offers room only accommodation and is nestled at the foot of Sligo’s mythical, majestic mountain Benbulben, where guests can enjoy large, bright, comfortable ensuite bedrooms. It is an ideal base for exploring the region termed ‘The land of Heart’s desire’ by Sligo’s most famous poet W.B. Yeats, whose grave is located a few minutes walk from the lodge in Drumcliffe Cemetery. Drumcliffe is also the site of a 6th century monastic settlement founded in the 5th Century by St Columcille. Yeats Lodge is located about a 15 minute drive to Sligo City, Glencar Waterfall, Rosses Point, Gleniff Horseshoe, Benbulben Forest Walk, Lissadell House & Beach, Streedagh Beach, Mullaghamore, A few more minutes driving will take you to Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, the warrior Queen Maeve's Tomb on Knocknarea & beautiful Strandhill.

Neighborhood info

Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, Drumcliffe is a small village on the Sligo/Donegal road N15. Most famous as the burial place of Ireland's national poet William Butler Yeats, the village is nestled between Benbulben mountain & the Atlantic Ocean. Visit an array of megalithic sites including Carrowmore, one of Western Europe’s oldest and largest Megalithic Cemeteries. Climb Knocknarea, burial mound of mythical warrior Queen Maeve. Take in nearby Lissadell House & gardens, ancestral home of Countess Markievicz. Take a boat trip on Lough Gill and visit Parkes Castle, marvel at the Lake Isle of Inisfree and nearby Glencar Waterfall both immortalised by Yeats’ poetry. Stroll the beaches of Rosses Point, Strandhill and explore the fossil remains at Streedagh beach, also the site of the ill-fated Spanish Armada in 1588. Pay a visit to the fishing village of Mullaghmore, catch a glimpse of the fairytale Classiebawn Castle, summer residence of Lord Louis Mountbatten. Yeats Lodge is a short stroll from nearby award winning Davis’ Restaurant, and a short walk/drive from a number of other excellent local pubs & restaurants. For those opting for a more lively night life experience, Sligo City is located 8km away. Golf, Horse Riding, Fishing, Walking, Hiking, Cycling, Watersports, Sheepdog displays and traditional music are all available within a short drive.
