Company info

Built in 1884, Kinlochmoidart House is one of the few remaining original works of the renowned architect William Leiper. Set at the head of Loch Moidart, the estate is surrounded by rugged hills covered by ancient woodlands and hill lochs. Step back to the 19th century and begin your Highland adventure. Our remote self-catering cottages each have their own character and style. Whether you're coming for a relaxing getaway, family holiday or solo retreat, let us host you in your home away from home. The restoration of Kinlochmoidart House was conducted between 1988 and 1996 and its success was due not only to the many dedicated experts who worked on the House in this period but above all to the outstanding energy and direction of Nino Stewart, pictured here, who frequently acted a foreman while simultaneously catering for a large and fluctuating workforce. Do say hello if you see her during your stay!

Property info

This charming one bedroom cottage was originally the working Dairy for the Estate providing, milk, cream & butter. Tucked away from the main house it is the ideal country cottage escape.

Neighborhood info

Built in 1884, Kinlochmoidart House is one of the few remaining original works of the renowned architect William Leiper. Set at the head of Loch Moidart, the estate is surrounded by rugged hills covered by ancient woodlands and hill lochs. Our self-catering cottages each have their own character and style, and are either within the main house itself, or set within the policies. The scenery is spectacular, and the area offers much in the way of walking, beaches and fun days out, while the Estate itself provides a peaceful base and characterful backdrop. There are several pubs, cafes and restaurants within a few miles, as well as some fine dining within an hour's drive. We recommend that you do a big shop at one of the supermarkets in Fort William on your way to us, however there is a village shop and off-licence at Acharacle 7 miles away, which stocks firewood, gas, basic fishing tackle, stationery, and is also a Post Office. This is a brief summary of the information that is detailed comprehensively in our Information Folder, a copy of which you'll find in the property; we can also send this prior to arrival, if you wish. Please DO read it for a full list of activities and information on the area, including useful contact details for everything from the local medical centre and groceries to eateries, walks and much more.
