About this property

Formerly a coach house built in 1890, The Coach House is situated in the heart of the Lake District and 2 minutes’ drive from Windermere town centre and the shores of Lake Windermere. Free off-road parking for all rooms except our Single Room. Excellent WiFi is provided through out the property. An en suite shower room is included in each room at The Coach House, as well as a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Some feature cast-iron beds and antique furniture. Continental breakfast is delivered to your room between 08.00 and 09.00 to be enjoyed in your own space. Packed breakfasts can be arranged for early risers wanting to get up and out early. A local train service runs from Oxenholme station to Windermere and the property are 10-15 minutes’ walk from the station. Many activities are available with the Lake District National Park, such as riverside strolls, cycling through forests or hiring a boat or kayak. The Coach House is ideal for those looking to discover the local area and its attractions. Consequently, we have implemented a curfew to guarantee that our guests are not disrupted during their rest at night. The curfew is in place from midnight to 6:30 a.m. Additionally, a quiet policy is in place from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. to ensure that the property remains tranquil for all to appreciate.

We love hosting and meeting all different kinds of people. We are happy to chat and help you out but also we realise that some people come away to be quiet and that is absolutely fine too. We enjoy suggesting ideas for trips out and we are able to help you plan and get the best out of your time here - whatever your interests may be. Our interests are running, spending time on the lake and enjoying the area in which we live. Mark is also an artist and gets so much inspiration from this beautiful area.

Property information

The Coach House is a traditional Lakeland slate and stone house that sits halfway between the lovely centres of Bowness and Windermere. Our property was formerly a coach house and although modern in some respects, it still holds the character of the period in which it was built. We have lovely, relaxing decor with tasteful furnishings and comfortable rooms. Our double and king rooms have brand new bathrooms (new in July 2020), decor, beds and carpets so you can enjoy new comfort with the character of a Victorian house when it comes to our guest rooms. The River Studio - Self catering New in 2020, a lovely studio at the rear of the property that sleeps 2 guests and the balcony overlooks the woodland and stream. There is a kitchen / lounge / bedroom area and separate bathroom with a shower.

Neighbourhood information

Our neighbourhood is peaceful despite being on the door step to many things. We have a lovely wood to the rear of the road which can be easily accessed. Guests enjoy being able to walk out from the property and enjoy the local restaurants, pubs and attractions. There is a bus stop a few metres from the house where travellers without vehicles can hop on a bus. There are lots of lovely walks nearby which take you to the lakeside or over the fells. We are a short stroll from Lake Windermere and the many attractions around it including the steamer boats, ferry and the many shops.
