The Avenue - A traditional pub known for its welcoming atmosphere and charming setting on the outskirts of Durham city. It offers selection real ales, beers, wines and spirits alongside a food menu featuring traditional pub food and seasonal dishes. The pub has a core local following in the village as well as attracting visitor in the 6 comfortable rooms above. Its 2 outdoor areas make it a popular spot on a sunny day. It also hosts a weekly quiz, live music & shows a wide range of sport. Just a 5 minute bus/taxi ride from the centre of Durham and its hub of bars, restaurants and tourists attractions inc the historic Durham cathedral and castle both of which are UNESCO heritage sites and sit proudly over looking the river wear. Durham is also known for its historic city centre, cobbled streets and traditional market. The Avenue has excellent travel links with easy access to the A1 (north and south) just minutes away as well as being close to the Durham train station
