The location is wonderful & the private gardens right by the stream are really beautiful. The short but little-known walk along the stream right to Rydal is a real highlight. The building is quirky and full of character.

I studied and worked in catering for 10 years, before working in financial services. Now I've returned to hospitality, as it's my true calling. I have a passion for good food and wine, together with a love for music and dance. And, I eagerly await the pleasure of hosting you and creating a genuinely magical experience, perhaps accompanied by a glass of wine.

Property info

Rydal Lodge is a Grade II Listed treasure boasting a blend of history. With one half dating back to the 16th century and the other to the 18th century. Larger rooms at the back of the Lodge overlook the garden, which has the river Rothay bordering its expansive grounds, so you can unwind to the sound of flowing water while you soak in stunning scenery.

Neighborhood info

Rydal is a hamlet with an intimate cluster of houses, Rydal lodge hotel, and a church, on the A591 midway between Ambleside (1.5 miles) and Grasmere (1.5 miles). Rydal Water, is only 20 0 yards from the Lodge. So, our location is a dream come true for walkers, with countless iconic walks starting at our doorstep. The walks vary in difficulty from a light stroll to others that will challenge even a hardened walker. Looking over Rydal Water, is Rydal Cave, a man-made quarry that has been hollowed out over the years. This curious cavern invites explorers to step inside and marvel at the impressive rock formations and the interplay of light and shadows. William Wordsworth lived at Rydal Mount (200yrds) from 1813 to 1850, and much of his poetry was inspired by the breathtaking scenery. You might walk around the garden he designed, or cross the road to walk through the formal gardens to Rydal Falls & Grot, which is one of Britain’s earliest examples of a viewing station. Alternatively, go further afield and Lake Windermere is only 6 miles away; or take the bus, which stops regularly outside the front door and can take you North to Keswick, or South to Kendal.
