Blingery Cottage (rhyming with ‘gingery’) is a warm and comfortable traditional stone-built cottage situated in over 500 acres of well-maintained farmland stocked with Highland cattle & Cheviot sheep. A peaceful and relaxing country retreat with an abundance of wide-open space and panoramic views of the Caithness countryside for perfect weekend, or longer, getaways with plenty to do in the surrounding area only fifteen minutes from miles of beautiful coastline and gems such as Sinclair Castle.

I give my guests space to enjoy their holiday, however I am available if needed. I trust my guests to come and go through the farm to get to the cottage, though I kindly ask guests to be mindful that the cottage is located on a working farm.

Wick is the nearest town and has a good range of shops (including Tesco, Co-op & Lidl superstores), pubs and restaurants. It has an attractive harbour, commercial airport and a railway station. Ferries run to the beautiful Orkney Islands - which are magical to visit - from Scrabster (near Thurso) and Gills Bay (west of John O Groats). Caithness is a well-established agricultural region, fringed to the north and east by dramatic and beautiful coastal scenery. Away from the coast, the landscape is dominated by scattered settlements, open moorland and blanket bog known as the Flow Country. Caithness is held in very high regard by salmon and trout fishermen and those interested in game pursuits. The cottage and farm are in an idyllic rural location away from public transport. While any of the local taxi firms can be used to reach the accommodation when arriving or leaving, it is strongly recommended that guests have a car to get around.
