Bernières sur mer offre aux promeneurs deux kilomètres et demi de rivage bordé d'un cordon dunaire à l'ouest, d'une digue promenade le long de l'agglomération, et d'une falaise à l'est. La mer, à marée basse, laisse découvrir l'estran sableux, des rochers et des îlots qui font le bonheur des pêcheurs à pied.

Haut lieu du débarquement des forces armées alliées, Bernières se souvient. De nombreux soldats anglo-saxons et canadiens ont foulé la plage de Juno Beach pour libérer Bernières et l'Europe, certains y ont laissé la vie. Les vestiges du mur de l'Atlantique encore visibles sont devenus un lieu de souvenir où les Berniérais honorent chaque année la mémoire de ces soldats.
