Neighbourhood information

The town of Icod de los Vinos is located in the northwest of Tenerife, and is the home of the thousand-year-old Drago, declared a National Monument in 1917, and which is attributed approximately 800 years of age. On its coast, the San Marcos beach and the Cueva del Viento (Cave of the Wind) stand out. In addition, from Icod de los Vinos you can see one of the best views of Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain. The historic quarter can be discovered by taking a quiet walk through its streets, which hide chapels, churches and buildings of great heritage value. The fact that most of these places are very close to each other means that you can plan a route that does not overlook any of the secrets that this town has to offer. If you take as your starting point the information booth located in the Plaza de América and walk along the Calle del Buen Suceso and the Plaza de Luis León Huerta, you will reach the church of San Agustín and the Casa Consistorial, which was originally a monastery. Nearby is the old convent of San Francisco, now the municipal library. The next point on the route is the Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres, one of the most beautiful squares in the town, in front of which is the church of San Marcos. This temple houses various religious images made in the workshops of Spanish and American image-makers. Next to the church is the cozy Plaza de la Constitución, where the central fountain stands out. The landscape of this area of the town is dominated by the proximity of the millenary Drago, which, although it can be partially observed from the Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres, is worth a visit to the Parque del Drago Milenario to see this living National Monument up close.
