Casa Sonrisa is very authentically Spanish. Forged iron at the windows, tiles on the floor, white walls an in the middle of a hospitable medieval village. When we visited the house for the first time, we immediately fell for the roof terrace with the phenomenal view. We always prepared to live in the house, which is why the house has all the necessary amenities. We still discover special great things in Guaro and surroundings. We are pleased to share them with you!
We are a family with two children and we live in Bennebroek, near Schiphol. We have been traveling to Spain every year since 1999 and in 2005 we made the move to buy this house in Spain. All four of us love traveling and have visited all regions of Spain. Marjon works at the Dutch national Heart foundation and Arno at the municipality. The children are at the start of their study time.
From the village you can go in all directions to walk in the mountainous surroundings (also with children). You can find challenging mountain walks within 10-20 kilometers in the neighborhood of Ojén and Yunquera. But our village of Guaro is great in itself. On the street, in the shops and the many cafes you will be welcomed very hospitably in Spanish. If you don't speak Spanish, people will always help you. The village has a rich cultural life, with the flamenco festival in July and the Luna Mora festival in September famous throughout the region. The Easter processions (Semana Santa), the Romería in May and the Mayordomas and the living Christmas game in December are truly unforgettable events.
