All rooms at Piece Hostel Sanjo are air conditioned. Some units come with a private shower room and toilet, while there are shared shower rooms and toilets for other guests at the property. Bed linens and towels are provided free of charge. Female-only dormitory rooms are available. The location is great, around 10 minutes walk from the market and bus/metro stations. The stuff has excellent english and very helpful. The room was small but it was enough for us. There are coin laundry and drier which are useful. The hostel looks great, new.

Opened in April 2013 with brand new facilities, Piece Hostel Kyoto is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station. It features a spacious and comfortable lounge, a tatami (woven-straw) terrace and a wall-size map with latest event information around Kyoto. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property, while portable WiFi devices are available for guests to use during their stay for an additional fee.

Private rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV and a washbasin. A semi-double size bunk (120cm wide) in the dormitory rooms comes with a luggage space and a security locker. The best hostel I stayed! The staff amazing and everyone were very friendly! They organize games nights and even had a Christmas party 🎄🎅🏽 There is a lot of information provided on the walls (like markets date and location, and recommendations) Super clean, comfortable and good value for money. I took a single room which had a sink which made getting ready so easy. The showers are on the first floor, and the towels are just next to them so you could take as many as you needed. The location- just next to Kyoto station, you can easily get there and get everywhere you need to.

The property is non-smoking and is set 400 metres from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall. Perfect place to stay! The owner was very welcoming and we felt like home. Guests can choose to stay in dormitory-style rooms or in private rooms. Bathrooms and toilets are shared.

A safety deposit box is provided for storing valuable belongings. Microwave, fridge, freezer, and electric kettle are available. Laundry is also available with limited time and luggage storage is offered at the front desk. I stayed here 13 nights, and I will definitely come back if visiting Kyoto. Some highlights were: Kind and caring staff Nice breakfast (I was too well-fed) Everything is very organised (and systematised) The cozy atmosphere of a traditional Japanese house Jiro the Shiba Inu

Conveniently located in the centre of Kyoto, SHIN kyoto offers air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a terrace. This 2-star hostel offers a shared kitchen. The property is non-smoking and is set 2.2 km from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall. This place is better than in looks on the pictures! I would say it’s a hidden technological gem (everything is automated, even doors closes by themselves) plus there is home warm atmosphere. Shin - owner of the place was extremely nice to us and it feels that the place was made with love We are looking forward to come back to Kyoto and stay here again

Boasting a terrace and views of city, Guest House Hennka Kyoto is situated in Kyoto, 1.4 km from Sanjusangen-do Temple. Featuring a garden, the 2-star hostel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The accommodation features a shared kitchen, and luggage storage for guests. We spent 7 nights at this guesthouse, and it was an important part of our wonderful experience in Kyoto. The couple that runs the guesthouse became friends with us. They fed us a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and cabbage salad, which we enjoyed every morning. We had a great time talking with the wife (who can speak English conversationally) every morning, as well as the three other couples who came and went during our long stay. This guesthouse is definitely for people who enjoy the experience of meeting other travelers, want to learn about Japan from their hosts, are looking for a getaway from the big cities, and don't mind walking about 20 minutes to and 20 minutes from (uphill) the closest train station. It's not for people who want a reclusive getaway, don't like walking long distances, are looking for a normal hotel experience, or can't navigate steep stairsteps. This guesthouse allows you to live around the locals in a quiet, non-touristy neighborhood. Our twin room was very spacious compared to our budget hotel room in Tokyo, had a traditional feel to it, and was quite comfortable on hot days with the wall-mounted AC. Going to the bathroom or toilet room does involve walking a few steps out onto the balcony attached to your room, but with the house being high in the hills, it still feels reasonably private. This guest room is next to the one other guest room at this property, so you do need to be aware of noise levels. Below the guest rooms is a vacant art gallery space that serves as a large common area that's currently available to guests but may not always be if it's being used as a gallery. Attached to the gallery is a large patio with a view of Kyoto — a great place to sit in the morning or while eating dinner. If you're looking for a wonderful stay in Kyoto that's a little out of the ordinary, and you're an active traveler that wants to experience the non-touristy side of the city, this may be your place.

Situated in Kyoto and with Samurai Kembu Kyoto reachable within 400 metres, Ryokan Hostel Gion features a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace. The property is set 1.9 km from Kyoto International Manga Museum, 2.1 km from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and 2.2 km from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference Hall. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and luggage storage space for guests.

The units at the hostel are fitted with a seating area. All rooms at Ryokan Hostel Gion have air conditioning and a safety deposit box. This hostel is one of the best I have ever stayed at! The beds were comfortable and quite private/spacious for a dorm room. The location was perfect for exploring Kyoto and all facilities were very clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, and could speak English well. The only downside I had was that I wish there was better ventilation in the rooms as it got quite smelly overnight with all the travellers, but that happens in all hostels!
