It is a very cool hostel, its build in a traditional japanese house and it has a nice common room to spen time meeting another travelers. Has everything you need and it is a very short walk from Matsumoto castle and downtown. The owner is super nice and helpful and they even have some free bikes (first come, first served) to use to go around the city.

I spent 4 nights in Popotel Three. It was very nice, comfortable and very clean. The owner is very friendly and make you feel like home. Communication before arrival was perfect. Clear instructions to find the house. I highly recommend this place if you want to explore Matsumoto and surroundings (10-15 min max from the train station). I would just add a small lamp next to the bed in Room A 😁

The house was very spacious, it was probably a hostel with a lot of rooms before Covid19, as everything was accommodated for it. Very good location next to the Matsumoto Castle. The host was so super nice, he even gave us access to his private Cable TV to be able to watch the World Cup, as Argentina was playing the Finals! It was very important for me to watch the game, as I´m Argentinian.

Everything was just great! The owner Brian was so friendly, he informed us about all the tings we can do in Matsumoto itself and about different day or half-day Trips we can do from Matsumoto. He also has a written version where you can read about the trips in detail. It's possible to use the kitchen and cook for yourself. We even got a heater, as it was pretty cold in the night. And the location is also really good, as it is just a 10 min walk to the train station and to the Matsumoto Castle it's also only 15 min to walk. Unfortunately we already booked the nightbus to travel to the next stop. Otherwise we would have loved to stay longer!
