After traveling 3 km on a chaotic track, accessible only by 4x4s and SUVs, we reached Kukummi Lodge, formerly Mackaya Bella Country Lodge. Nestled in an isolated valley, this lodge is a true haven of peace, far from everything. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, Bryan and Danny, as well as Amina, our contact before the stay. Seeking to return to their roots, they left their previous life to acquire this property just a year ago. Their attention to every detail made our stay memorable. Located on the edge of the Mdedelelo Wilderness Area & Solitude park (Champagne Valley), the lodge offers superb hiking options. The landscapes are breathtaking, and each hike reveals new wonders. We enjoyed a sunny day hiking, guided by Danny who showed us the treasures of the region. We then explored the central part of the Drakensberg (Monks Cowl), and can say that this lodge is undoubtedly the gem among all those we visited during our stay. This lodge, particularly isolated, is ideal for those seeking to recharge and share special moments with the hosts. With only three rooms at that time, the experience is intimate and personalized ! As for us, we will return during our next stay in South Africa.

The Goodland Cottages is a recently renovated guest house in Champagne Valley, where guests can makes the most of its pool with a view, garden and barbecue facilities. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The guest house offers garden views, a sun terrace, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. First of all, I love the place, it’s so quiet, this bees I love everything about it.

Mergan was a very hospitable host and was readily available to assist make our weekend stay memorable. We will certainly be visiting again.

Place was so clean and so cozy. Fully equipped with a TV, wifi, air conditioning. Definitely great 10/10. The attention to detail was everything. From the little treats left on the bedside to the rusk biscuits which were so thoughtful. Super friendly owners. This will definitely be a place I would want to come back to.

Tranquility-Ukuthula Guesthouse is a recently renovated guest house in Winterton, where guests can makes the most of its outdoor swimming pool, garden and barbecue facilities. This property offers access to a patio, darts, free private parking and free WiFi. The guest house has an outdoor fireplace and a hot tub. We loved everything about the place. There are so many things in the house that make the property very practical. For example, there was an ice maker, coffee machine with flavors, soda stream, microwave, 2 fridges, washing machine and detergent, lunchboxes, plates, cutlery, smart tv, WiFi, puzzles, a dart board, braai area with everything you need, camp chairs and of course the star of the show - the Kolkol Hottub! I could keep counting forever
