We absolutely loved staying at Riverbed Guesthouse! The room + bath are spacious, super clean, stylish and comfy. We really appreciated the little details e.g. the coffee machine incl. milk frother. The garden is awesome with a nice pool, a little stream in the back and a beautiful view on the mountains. Further, the owners were super friendly - we immediately felt welcome and at home. The rooms are cozy and clean. The breakfast was excellent: strong coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a choice of delicious menu items. Exceptionally professional and pleasant staff. Owners were delightful and truly cared about our comfort and stay. I cannot say enough about the on-site restaurant. We travel all over the world and we found the restaurant to be world-class: beautiful presentation, creative dishes, excellent wine list, knowledgeable and professional service, and plentiful entree combinations.

The whole property is an oasis of calm and green. It was so healing to check in there after a long drive from Cape Town. Everything in this property looked well taken care of and nicely designed. It is conveniently located close to the street and is well hidden in the greenery (just a slight buzz of traffic could be heard). There are two bungalows in a big garden, each containing 4 rooms, so thought there were other guests, it didn't feel crowded at all. Rooms were very clean, spacious, nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the pool very much in the heat of the day, it was clean and refreshing. The owners were extremely friendly. Chere sent me a message in the morning suggesting several dinner options in town, this was very helpful. She even booked a restaurant of our choice. Breakfast was amazing- very fresh, high quality products and very delicious. Everything felt more like a cozy home stay rather than a conventional hotel.

We enjoyed our short stay at Birdsong cottage. Its well located within a few minutes walk of several restaurants as well as the older, historical part of Swellendam. The cottage is situated within a beautiful garden. under trees and was cool in the summer heat. It also has a fire place for winter evenings. We noted that the cottage was tastefully styled and the pictures were an accurate reflection of how it looks. The king sized bed was very comfortable and had quality bed linen. Colin was a great host, friendly and informative. We would stay there again.
