The host was so charming and thoughtful! We had a great chat, he showed me around the property and told me about centuries-old trees nearby. He also prepared hot spring bath for my arrival which absolutely made my evening. The area was very quiet, I could hear crickets and see the stars. I basically had the property to myself because other guests changed plans due to the typhoon. But even if the house was full, I wouldn't feel cramped: the room was spacious, and the shared spaces are also quite big. The host also gave me a ride to the station.

Mariko's kindness is absolutely outstanding, even for Japanese standards. She is one of the best, if not the best host we have ever had the luck to meet. She even prepared a delicious breakfast for us and drove us to the train station because we were in a bit of a hurry. The lodging is simple yet lovely, cozy, in a great location and super clean. So top choice, you won't regret it!

Super kind host, it seems that she absolutely loves what she is doing. Very helpful, gave us a lot of information so we could easily navigate the area in no time, even drove us to town to start exploring. She made us tasty breakfast free of charge, asked what we like and it was no problem that we are vegetarian. Look up ikkigai – that's what you experience there in action.

Yoshi and his wife are wonderful hosts. During our stay, we received plenty of advice and help to explore the area and make the most of the short time we had in Nikko. The accommodation is beautiful, comfortable, very well located, and super clean. Next time we visit, we’ll spend more time in the area and will definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay at a charming new guesthouse I had a great stay at this cozy guesthouse. The host has just started out, and it’s clear she puts her heart into making everything perfect for her guests. She was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my visit. She speaks English very well, which made communication super easy and comfortable. She also knows the neighborhood inside out and gave me great tips for local food and hidden spots I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. The room was lovely — decorated in a traditional Japanese style that gave the whole stay an authentic touch. One small thing to note: the sound of the nearby river can be quite noticeable at night. I didn’t mind it, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. Overall, a warm and genuine experience — I highly recommend staying here!

Very Nice staff. They helped us and welcomed us. All the equipment and the comfort was perfect. Very clean place! And They spoke English which is actually rare in Japan even in hotels. That just makes everything much easier. There is also a lovely onsen bath available. I defiantly want to come back again.

    Great hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. Spotless house, quiet location, beautiful touches to make it feel homely, an awesome bath that stays hot and fills automatically- the best bath I have ever had! Hosts had information including timetables for buses, shows at edo wonderland at their finger tips. Walking distance - 5mins to bus stop and only 10mins tops to train station. Host also took us to the train station in their private car - very friendly, polite and helpful. Loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

    The host and staff were great and super friendly. They gave us recommendations about places and restaurants. We had such a lovely stay at the guesthouse. Everything was clean and the guesthouse has only few rooms so it was quiet at nights. It took only 1-2 minutes to walk to Tobu Nikko station and many cafes and restaurants and a kombini near by. We highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in Nikko. Thank you :)

    Guest house was in a great location, really close to the train station and a family mart. The host was really friendly and helped us plan a hike with bus times and a guide he prepared himself. The toilets were modern and clean.

    Our time at Stay Nicco Guesthouse was very nice. The location at the river about 5-10min from the main street and the next bus stop was very convenient and quiet. The cabin was sooo kawaii with a lot of attention to detail as well as well equipped and clean. Our host took the time to explain the surroundings and attractions of the area along with giving us tips on where to spend our limited time. His wife even drove us to the train station. We regret not staying longer and would like to return :)

    Yoshi is a great and very kind host. He has loads of great tips about Nikko which were very helpful during our stay. The guesthouse is well organised and very clean. Cozy living room a d well supplied kitchen. Bikes are also available, which are great for moving around Nikko. All in all the best guest house we have had in Japan.

    Yoshi was a great host. Helped us to set up a great day to Senjogahara and beyond, good recommendations for meals, bus timetables etc. The place is very central but quiet. Enjoyed the photo, Yoshi is an expert, (not our usual thing). So happy.
