simply amazing - beautiful nature around, quiet at night, spacious enough for a couple even for a longer stay, super comfortable bed, many hiking routes directly accessible, animals around - donkeys, wild rabbis and peacocks...it really had all we needed + the best host...thank you and hope to be back!

The Mountain Eco Shelter is such a charming place that you'd be wrong not to sleep here during your stay in Madeira. You feel perfectly safe and surrounded by nature. The shelter is very comfortable (the kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is perfect and beautiful, the bed is very comfortable), the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley of Funchal with the sea, we really enjoyed eating outside with this view. The shelters are located in the Funchal Ecological Park, which gives them a special flavor: you feel right at home in nature, and there are hiking trails from the park. Unfortunately, we stayed during the August 2024 fires and were therefore unable to do some of the hikes, but this didn't spoil our stay and the host was very reassuring and informative about the fire. Many thanks to the team for this.

Lovely cabin surrounded by mountain views, we saw so many stars at night. There's a great place to eat and drink (O Barracão), just 10 mins walk from the cabin, and it's only 20 minutes drive from Funchal (we had a rental car, but I believe there's a bus stop nearby too). It felt like a little home away from home, bed was very comfortable, shower was excellent and the little kitchenette had a stove top, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and fridge. Our host was wonderful, very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!

The location in the middle of a nature reserve. Calm and quiet apart from the occasional donkey and peacock ;) Very nice and warm host. The 'shelter' is still new, clean and it is nice to be able to cook our own food. The variation in weather between clear blue skies with sunshine, mysterious fog and cloudy with rain. Very close to Pico do Arieiro to watch the sunrise and sunset. The flashlight came in super handy!

Beautiful inside, very spacious. Perfectly clean, kitchen with all you need. Outside beatiful nature, trails, nice bar. In cloudy days the house is quite dark because of small windows.
