My favourite place in Dar es Salaam!

It's not my first time at Serena, but the other times I couldn't use any of the amenities. This time I used the Gym, the sauna and enjoyed the overall atmosphere of this hotel, and the feeling is great. The rooms are not new, so shower and wc could be improved. But the room is huge, the service is excellent, like it is expected in a 5 starts. Small courtesy like preparing your room for the night, plenty of complementary water, very nice view to the garden and sea. The gym is excellent. Small details like having a smart TV that connects to our phone are also a plus. And they were very friendly to allow me a late check out considering I was taking a late flight, so it allow me to take a nice shower before leaving. The hotel is general is not a new style hotel, but you can feel the tradition and a mix of Arabic and África. There's a lot of people coming from outside to use the restaurant and that gives some extra life to the hotel. The other times I was not so impressed, this time I loved it. Thank you to all staff.

Henry, the manager, set a wonderful tone for my visit with his welcoming demeanour and attentiveness. His passion for ensuring guests have a memorable experience was evident, and it made a significant difference in my stay. Frank at the front desk was incredibly helpful and cheerful, providing assistance with a smile. He made the check-in process seamless and was always available to answer any questions I had, making me feel right at home. Esther in the restaurant was an absolute delight. Her friendly service and fantastic energy brightened up every meal. Not only was the food exceptional, but her genuine hospitality made dining there a highlight of my stay. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention Maneno, the hotel driver. His impeccable service and friendly conversations during my rides added an extra layer of comfort to my travels around the city. Overall, the team at Blackwood Hotel – from Henry and Frank to Esther and Maneno – truly exemplified what excellent customer service is all about. I look forward to returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay!

Everything. A big selling point at Aya Sofia are for sure the animals. They have giraffes, zebras, antelopes, ostriches, all very friendly and great at posing for pictures. Their keepers are extremely knowledgeable, good English, great entertainers, they explain about each species and assist you while you feed the animals. At Aya Sofia there are only a few exclusive beautiful villas located in a perfectly maintained garden. Peacocks and grey crested cranes roam around. Overlooking the sea, there is a big pool and a restaurant The food is fresh and tasty and prepared with love by their very skilful chef. You can spend your days peacefully listening to the sound of the waves while pampered by the staff who is not only highly professional but also extremely kind. They will go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and looked after. Last but not least, the villas are just perfect, equipped with all you need, very very clean and comfortable. High ceilings, tasteful designed, super quality, attention to detail. Aya Sofia is not only a hotel, is an experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area and would like to spend a few very special days
