We loved the friendly front desk staff, spacious apartment, and great warm pool and hot tub with a view of the lake from our balcony.

The location was 10 minute drive from the centre of Taupo, breakfast was excellent. Angie and Garth were incredibly friendly giving us help with places to eat and all around the local area. Despite the cold weather in New Zealand for summer we had a fire in the lodge to keep us warm.

Located on the edge of Lake Taupo, The Cove- On The Lake offers luxury rooms with satellite TV and either fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes. It features a tour desk that can book local activities, including trout fishing, skydiving and mountain biking. Free parking is available on site. Location was amazing. Right in front of the lake and only 5 minutes from the town centre. The room itself felt quite luxurious, it's obviously an old building but it's been renovated as good as it can be. Bedroom was spacious, bathroom was even bigger and the balcony/hot tub area was great. Quite baby proof too.

Just 2 minutes’ walk from Lake Taupo, Acapulco Motor Inn offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TV and a DVD player. It features a hot tub and a barbecue area with outdoor seating. Free parking is available on site. Breakfast was good but they cleared the buffet away to early.

Taupo DeBretts Spa Resort is just 800 metres from Lake Taupo crater lake. It has a natural thermal spa and is only 5 minutes' drive from the Taupo town centre. Free Wi-Fi is available.

DeBretts Spa offers a wide variety of accommodation options including studio and family motels to spa chalets and luxury lodges. Fantastic check in, all the staff were very friendly! the beds were extremely comfy and we had a little fridge for our snacks. The pools were great to relax in after the road trip and the sunset was amazing! We also booked dinner at the Hilton which was super yummy! It was such a great trip, and only a 3 min walk into town

Suncourt Hotel & Conference Centre offers spectacular views of Lake Taupo and the volcanoes of Tongariro National Park. All individually air-conditioned rooms include free WiFi, free on-site parking and a 55 inch Smart TV with Freeview and casting/streaming abilities. Room had everything you need for a few day stay. Location was perfect with a quick walk to heaps of shops and restaurants. Right opposite the lake. Friendly staff. Free car parking. Free WIFI. Laundry room Available. The best thing was pulling up into the car park after a few hours of driving with our toddler, to see the trampoline and swing-set - he was entertained for hours. We will be back for sure.
